In his upcoming film 'Echo Boomers', Patrick Schwarzenegger is out to get back at a system that has repeatedly failed. Fresh out of college, he has little to no work prospects because of a declining economy. At the same time, the rich keep getting richer. By joining a group of rebellious peers, he is stealing from the rich and taking it for himself. But for how long?
Patrick's name unmistakably places him as a direct relative of bodybuilding and film legend and former politician Arnold Schwarzenegger. But if you don't recognize him from that, you might from his recent public appearances with 23-year-old model girlfriend Abby Champion. The actor is known for his small, supporting roles in 'Stuck in Love', 'Grown Ups 2' and 'Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse'. He garnered a following with his first leading role in 'Midnight Sun' opposite Bella Thorne. The romantic drama directed by Scott Speer is about a teenage girl with a rare medical condition that prevents her from going out in the sun.
'Midnight Sun' was an instant hit. The teen romance grossed $9.6 million in the United States and Canada, and $17.8 million in other territories, making a total worldwide gross of $27.4 million. Patrick Schwarzenegger was nominated for the 2018 Teen Choice Awards Choice Drama Movie Actor, and the movie was nominated for People's Choice Awards' Favourite Dramatic Movie, also in 2018. So clearly, the audience welcomed Patrick more than the critics did.
While his performance in 'Midnight Sun' was questionable for a niche group of audiences and critics, many were impressed with his work in the 2019 psychological horror 'Daniel Isn't Real'. The movie, which released last year, is directed by Adam Egypt Mortimer and is based on the novel 'In This Way I Was Saved' by Brian DeLeeuw. It followed a troubled college freshman, Luke (Miles Robbins), who resurrects a childhood imaginary friend in order to cope with violent family trauma. Patrick, who plays the role of Daniel, was applauded for his performance. The terrifying character was played out with "a playful intensity similar to his father" many had noted.
Coming to his lineage, Patrick is Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver's son. Through his mother, who is the daughter of Eunice Kennedy Shriver, a sister of John F., Robert and Ted Kennedy, Schwarzenegger is related to the Kennedy family tree. This association makes him the grand-nephew of John F Kennedy and a second cousin of Joe Kennedy III.
In his upcoming movie, the actor plays a promising role in Lance. In an interview, he had said, "First off, I just want to say it's been a dream of mine to work with Michael Shannon." Catch his performance on 'Echo Boomers', which releases on Friday, November 13, 2020. It also stars Michael Shannon as Mel Donnelly leading the group that includes Alex Pettyfer as Ellis Beck, Hayley Law as Allie Tucker, Oliver Cooper as Stewart, and Jacob Alexander as Chandler Gaines.
