'Dune: Prophecy': 5 things to expect from Max show based on riveting teaser
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Dune: Prophecy' dropped its first teaser, and fans of the 'Dune' franchise cannot control their excitement as the show is expected to release this fall on HBO Max.
'Dune: Prophecy' is expected to have six episodes and it is directed by Anna Foerster, John Cameron, and Richard J. Lewis and stars Camilla Beeput, Sarah Lam, Emily Watson, and Olivia Williams among others.
The series was earlier titled 'Dune: Sisterhood' when it was announced in June 2019 but after five years of changes in production and titles, the final title is 'Dune: Prophecy'. Here are our five takeaways from the first teaser of 'Dune: Prophecy'.
10000 years before the birth of Paul Atreides
The teaser states that the events of 'Dune: Prophecy' take place 10,000 years before the birth of Paul Atreides.
In the Dune universe timeline, Paul Atreides was born in the year 10,176 AG to Duke Leto Atredis and Lady Jessica. This happens after Lady Jessica disobeys the command of the sisterhood to produce a daughter.
Bene Gesserit origin story
Bene Gesserit is a group in the Dune Universe created by Frank Herbert who attain superhuman powers by training their mental and physical self for years.
They are a powerful social, political, and religious group that are trained to control the subconscious through subtleties of change in voice.
'Dune: Prophecy' chronicles their sacrifice and training in what seems to be the origin story of the group.
Great costumes and large-scale production design
The 'Dune' universe films are always focused largely on world creation and this series looks to be no different with a great amount of attention paid to detail.
The costumes are equally well designed and imagined to suit the aesthetics of the world created in the series.
Sisterhood to be at the forefront of the series
The members of the Bene Gesserit are known as Reverend Mothers and they form a sisterhood that is exclusive for women who have the powers and mental conditioning required to be in the group.
The sisterhood and its workings are going to be the focal point of the series as it takes an in-depth look at the formation of the sisterhood which will become an important factor eventually in the Dune franchise.
Exceptional cinematography and ominous music
The 'Dune' movies have always had great cinematography capturing the wide open locales of the world. This series also looks visually magnificent with great wide shots and shot composition. Pierre Gill is the cinematographer for the series.
The music also gives an ominous vibe teasing the impending dangers that await the central characters in the series.
