'Dr Pimple Popper': Did Teresa get a lump on her wrist because she twisted it? Dr Lee tries to find out
Dr Sandra Lee has been working hard to ensure she is there for her patients no matter what the world has been up to. In the latest episode (October 15), Dr Lee met up with Teresa, a patient who has a cyst-like growth on her wrist. Teresa revealed she has had the growth on her wrist for nearly nine years.
She believes it started when she twisted her wrist. Following the incident, she had a pea-size growth. While it remained like that for a couple of years, Teresa noticed that the growth was growing in size once she got pregnant. Teresa thought it was a cyst as it would drain after becoming big to a certain point.
Teresa revealed that the growth would become big as it would fill up with fluid. After a point, the fluid will drain itself out once it had reached its maximum point. However, the fluid will slowly start filling up again. Teresa seemed to be certain it was a cyst.
However, Dr Lee was skeptical about this diagnosis. She had questions about the growth of being a cyst because of the things Teresa had revealed. Dr Lee tried to understand the growth better by asking Teresa to describe the liquid that came out of it. She was curious to know if the fluid was milky in texture.
Teresa revealed it looked like clear fluid and in a watery condition. This made Dr Lee more confused as she did not think it could be a cyst due to the fluid that was coming out of it. Dr Lee admitted it was an unusual case as cysts did not have a liquid-like consistency the one she described and neither did they have the tendency to fill up again.
Teresa admitted she had gone to a doctor before who informed her that it was a cyst. After taking scans and X-Rays, they decided to perform surgery. However, Teresa did not feel confident about the doctor and decided not to go for the surgery. Dr Lee suggested one of the possibilities could be that Teresa has a ganglion cyst.
She hinted this could be the possibility for the fluid to be collected. However, to be sure, Dr Lee wanted to meet Teresa in person and admitted she was looking forward to running some tests to be sure of the diagnosis.
'Dr Pimple Popper' airs on Thursdays at 10 pm ET on TLC.
