'Doubling Down with the Derricos': Darian helps out in the house, fans fear she might become a 'second mom'
Karen and Deon Derrico are proud of their big family and the family values that have been inculcated. With a total of 11 children and three on the way, their family is growing. The premiere episode of the show helped the viewers get an insight into what it is like to live in a large family.
Karen and Deon admitted that they had always wanted to have a large family. Deon grew up with one sibling and there were times when he felt alone. Knowing the feeling, Deon had always planned on having a large family. Meanwhile, Karen came from a large family with 19 cousins. She knew how good it felt to have siblings and that made her think about having a large family of their own.
Deon admitted that one thing that pushed them towards marriage was the thoughts that they had in common. He recalled Karen telling how she would be happy with any number of children that God blessed her with. The two finally decided to tie the knot and have been blessed to have 11 children conceived naturally.
The latest episode (August 11) showed how the family went about doing their daily chores. Karen revealed she had a lot of help from the older children who were ready to help out with the household chores. Their oldest daughter, Darian Derrico has played a crucial role in helping the family. Darian revealed that she loved to spend time with her siblings, but at times it became irritating as they failed to listen to her. Karen admitted that Darian helped with breakfast and made sure that all the children are awake. Darian further added that she loved the idea of having siblings because she never felt bored.
While the family thought it was good for the siblings to help each other out, viewers of the show feared that Darion might soon take on the role of a second mom. "Please don’t turn the oldest into a second mom," wrote one user. Another user compared her situation to Jenna Duggar from 'Counting On' as the comment read, "The oldest daughter is gonna probably be like Jenna Duggar."

However, it looks like Karen knows she does not want Darian to take too much once she goes into the labor. Will she be able to convince the viewers that the children do everything by choice?
