After Brooks Nader, 'Baywatch' reboot adds another Sports Illustrated model and the cast gets even glitzier
In a nod to the prevailing social media-driven content landscape, Fox has recently roped in a prominent social media celebrity to star in its upcoming reboot of a classic show. Deadline confirmed that former competitive gymnast and model Livvy Dunne has been signed to join the cast of the upcoming Fox reboot of 'Baywatch'.
Dunne will be appearing on the 'Baywatch' reboot in a recurring role, and the name of her character is Grace, who happens to be a highly energetic and enthusiastic junior lifeguard.
Dunne is a social media celebrity with a considerable following. She has about 13 million followers across her social media accounts and is a former gymnast at Louisiana State University who recently revealed she is taking acting lessons.
The 23-year-old retired from competitive gymnastics in April 2025 and soon after announced her ambitions for a career in film and television. She will star alongside already confirmed 'Baywatch' reboot cast members such as Brooks Nader, Noah Beck, and Shay Mitchell. The rest of the cast includes David Chokachi, who will reprise his original role of Cody Madison. They will be joined by Hassie Harrison, Thaddeus LaGrone, and Jessica Belkin. The cast will be led by Stephen Amell as Hobie Buchannon.
The original 'Baywatch' was created by Douglas Schwartz, Greg Bonann, and Michael Berk. The show ran for 11 seasons and reached a massive global audience. The ensemble cast of 'Baywatch' included David Hasselhoff, Alexandra Paul, Gregory Alan Williams, Pamela Anderson, Billy Warlock, Erika Eleniak, Yasmine Bleeth, and Parker Stevenson. The plot revolved around California beach lifeguards and their daily struggles to keep people safe from accidents, shark attacks, and other unexpected incidents.
At the time of announcing the upcoming reboot, Fox Television Network President Michael Thorn had expressed in a statement, "In its first run, Baywatch defined an entire era of beach life and elevated lifeguards to an iconic status. Now, with our partners at Fremantle, this television juggernaut is set for a modern-day comeback. Together, Fox and Fremantle, along with Matt Nix and original co-creator Greg Bonann, will bring the California dream to a whole new generation of fans with fresh stories, rising stars, and all the spectacle that makes the Baywatch franchise a global sensation.”
In terms of the plot, the reboot will focus on Hobie following in his legendary father's footsteps to become a Baywatch Captain. However, the status quo of his life will be upset after his daughter, Charlie, shows up at his doorstep to carry on with the Baywatch way of life and to take forward the Buchannon legacy. The show is scheduled to arrive as a part of the 2026-2027 release calendar at Fox.
