'Virgin River' Season 8 needs to answer a major Dan Brady question after hinting at tragic end to the character
'Virgin River' Season 8 will prove to be the most important installment for Dan Brady (Benjamin Hollingsworth) fans. Introduced as a resident bad boy and a marine veteran trying to piece his life back together, the character development over the seasons has firmly cemented him as a fan-favorite. His relationship with Brie (Zibby Allen), a struggling lawyer, finally saw headway after they reunited in Season 7, only for him to suffer a devastating motorcycle accident in the finale. This leads to the bigger question: Does Dan Brady die in 'Virgin River' Season 7.
Earlier, showrunner Patrick Sean Smith spoke about Brady's fate as a storyline in Season 8. “That storyline will also play out in Season 8 — whether Brady survived the accident or not,” he told Tudum, when discussing the character's transformation. In the last few seasons, Brady has gone from organized crime to opening up a garage as a mechanic. Brie's old wounds seem to be healing after her shocking assault at work. Both characters have been in the will-they-won't they boat for a while. "The thing that felt interesting was Brie’s capacity to grow — to not try to return to the woman she was before her assault and accept herself for the woman that she is right now,” Smith added. "That’s who Brady wants."
"Brie is learning to accept Brady for who he is," the showrunner detailed. "Once she’s able to open up and allow that intimacy between the two of them, it feels like their relationship is in a different place than we’ve seen it before. She was self-medicating and acting out in ways that she didn’t really understand at the time, but now that she has more awareness of herself and Brie 2.0, it’s interesting to put her and Brady working toward their happily ever after." Now, it remains to be seen if the two get their happily ever after, especially after their romance arc has been a constant storyline in previous seasons. At the time of writing, there is no word on when 'Virgin River' Season 8 will release. What's known is that the drama returns with 10 episodes. With the seventh season premiering recently, it will be a 2027 release window at best for the eighth season. The plot will see a four-month time jump, as confirmed by Smith's themes of sacrifice, past trauma, and rebirth taking center stage. At the moment, fans can watch seasons 1-7 of 'Virgin River' on Netflix.
