MILLEDGEVILLE, GEORGIA: Mama June Shanon has been stuck in controversy since the death of her eldest daughter Anna Cardwell in December 2023.
From asking for financial help from the viewers to planning a Christmas trip to Disney land and asking for gift money to acting like an 'addict' in a TikTok live, she's been surrounded by controversies in the reality world.
This time, she was caught blatantly lying that she was never served daughter Anna Cardwell ex's lawsuit for custody of Kaitlyn Elizabeth, the eldest daughter of Anna Cardwell.
Documents revealed to The US Sun prove that she was served a lawsuit by George Sherrif Deputy on December 17.
In an interview with TMZ on December 18, June Shannon, the matriarch of the Shannon family, said that she hasn't been served with any legal papers but she can take steps if necessary.
It was the same day when Mama June asked for emergency custody of Kaityln. June denied knowledge of any other claims of custody for Kaityln. However, Michael Cardwell filed for Kaityln's custody a day prior on December 17.
In his lawsuit, Michael stated that he should be awarded custody of Anna's eldest daughter Kaitlyn.
Michael has full custody of their daughter Kylee and he wanted a "fully and completely undertaken permanent, unequivocal, committed, responsible parental role in Kaitlyn's life."
He claimed that he's grown a bond with the child and he is fit to take care of Kaitlyn even though he's not her biological father. He used to spend time with Kaitlyn whenever he met Kylee for a regular visitation schedule.
In the lawsuit, he also stated how Anna wasn't close to her mother as she was raised by her maternal grandmother in Griffin.
Why did Anna Cardwell's ex Michael Cardwell sue Mama June Shannon?
Michael Cardwell sued reality TV star June Shannon for the custody of Kaityln after the death of Anna Cardwell due to cancer at the age of 29.
The most important part is that Michael filed the lawsuit a day before Mama June's filing for Kaityln's custody.
The documents stated, "Both petitioned and parent understood, acknowledged, accepted and behaved as though the petitioner is a parent of the child and accepted full and permanent responsibilities as a parent of the child without expectation of financial compensation."
Is Mama June 'not fit' to raise Anna Cardwell's daughter Kaitlyn?
Mama June Shannon was given temporary custody of Kaityln. Until further court hearings, Kaityln has to live with Mama June.
As Michael's not her biological father, getting custody of Kaitlyn is a difficult task for him. However, as per Michael's statement, he has formed a better bond with Kaityln and that has even served as a father figure to her.
The internet feels Mama June is not a fit candidate to be handed over the custody of Anna Cardwell's daughter.
A user wrote, "She ain't even got custody of her kid..how tf."
Another mocked her by saying, "She wants to have social security benefits."
Another one added, "She's not fit to raise a child."
A user commented, "Why separate the sister?" as Kylee's custody is with Michael and Kaitlyn's is with Mama June.
Some even felt that it was a "selfish" way to stay relevant in the reality TV world which stands on controversy and gossip.
Mama June had to give up the custody of her youngest daughter Alana to daughter Lauryn Efird
Mama June's daughter Lauryn Efird got the full custody of Alana Thompson in 2022. According to the court documents, filed on April 11, 2022, Lauryn received Alana's sole custody.
However, Mama June is allowed to have contact with Alana via telephone but visitation rights will be determined by Lauryn. Mama June also has to give $800 per month in child support until Alana turns 18 years old.
Mama June had to initially give up the custody of his daughter Alana, as she was arrested for charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after she had a crack cocaine and crack pipe on her. She was arrested with her then-husband Eugene Edward Doak. Following her mother's arrest Alana began living with Lauryn and her husband Joshua Efird.
