TMZ has reported that the judge has granted custody to Kaitlyn's grandmother June "until a future court hearing." Until this point, Anna's ex-husband Michael Cardwell has been responsible for the care of Anna's daughters,Kylee and Kaitlyn.
As Michael is not Kaitlyn's biological father, the custody of Kaitlyn became uncertain following Anna's death. Kaitlyn lacks a legally recognized father, and the identity of her biological father remains unknown.
Despite June taking care of Kaitlyn since Anna's passing, Michael has filed legal documents asserting that he has served as a father figure to Kaitlyn and has been responsible for her well-being, despite not being her biological father.
The online community expresses skepticism about June's suitability for having custody of Kaitlyn. Many question how June would effectively care for her daughter's child, given that she did not raise her own daughters.

On December 11, Shannon's family announced her heartbreaking death. She passed away peacefully at home at 11:12 pm.
