MILLEDGEVILLE, GEORGIA: 'Mama June: From Not to Hot' star June Shannon, also known as Mama June, landed in controversy just after her TikTok live. The matriarch of the Shannon family has been slammed for allegedly doing drugs in the recent TikTok live. However, she refuted all such allegations and set the record straight that she was sober.
June was on live stream when she spoke about people trashing her unnecessarily. Some of the comments stated that she was high or probably doing drugs.
However, June Shannon clapped back at trolls and said, "I have been straight sober since January 27, 2020."
"I don't do drugs, I don't smoke cigarettes and I don't even drink," added.
June also said that she was preparing food during the live and thus had to bend down so that she could read the comments. She also stated that she is blind in her right eye, making reading difficult.
She further stated that she goes through weekly drug tests which is a requirement for her show 'Mama June: From Not to Hot'. She also said that she never failed a single drug test.
In a post by TMZ, some fans sympathized with Mama June and understood why she's in a vulnerable position.
One wrote, "LEAVE MAMA JUNE ALONE‼️‼️she just lost her daughter," while another commented, "It was clearly a large plastic straw! She took a sip and coughed after. People always trying to make drama where there is none!!!!!"
One even got irritated by the entire thing and commented, "Please stop making this lady relevant cuz she and her family are some of the most uneducated rednecks I have ever seen but yet you keep putting her on TV. Surely you can find some American people from people from the United States or not straight trailer trash."
"Enough with her and her family," the person added.
When was Mama June alum June Shannon arrested?
'Mama June' alum June Shannon was arrested in March 2019 for felony drug possession with her then-ex Geno Doak. They were arrested in an Alabama gas station on a Wednesday after someone reported domestic violence between the two.
Cops busted them for felony possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, in addition to domestic violence.
The police were about to pin down Doak when he asked them not to reach his pocket. The cops found a needle and then they searched Mama June. She said she was the owner of the vehicle and claimed ownership of everything inside.
Cops found a needle on the driver's floorboard. Police also found a glass pipe with white residue inside the pocket of her jogging suit. They also discovered a green pill bottle containing a white controlled substance in the glove compartment and June agreed that it was cocaine.
The couple pleaded not guilty to possessing crack cocaine that October and later attended rehab and finally split in September 2021.
Mama June slammed for cashing in on Anna Cardwell's death
June Shannon's eldest daughter Anna Chickadee Cardwell lost her 10-month battle with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma and died on December 10, 2023.
Since then Mama June has been asking fans for donations whether for the funeral or Anna's daughters. She was brutally slammed by the internet for being so insensitive.
Mama June Shannon has asked her followers for gifts and donations for Anna Cardwell's daughters Kylee and Kaityln. However, fans noted that the Amazon wishlist she has created contains more adult necessities than for young girls.
June even shared their mailbox address for sending gifts/cards. In between all these, and not even a month since Anna's death, June stated that she wanted to spend her Christmas in Disneyland with her family. She even scattered her daughter's ashes in the Disneyland which left the fans confused and they slammed her for showing off.
June has been posting on social media about donations and asking fans to increase her social media followers. This made the internet furious as she was cashing in on her eldest daughter's death.
Did Mama June spend $1 million on cocaine?
Mama June revealed that she spent over a million on cocaine during her addiction period.
Even though in the recent TikTok Live she stated that she has been sober since January 2020, her dark past with drug addiction cannot be brushed under the carpet.
According to The New York Post, Mama June said that her addiction mostly consisted of snorting until it damaged her vision and cracked her voice.
She stated that she regrets doing drugs and spending so much money on it. She also mentioned that she hardly remembers anything from those years. She reportedly spent almost $3,000 a day on drugs.
Her addiction was so much that she had to sign over full custody of her youngest daughter, Alana 'Honey Boo Boo' Thompson to her other daughter Lauryn 'Pumpkin' Efird and her husband Joshua Efird.
