'Dark' Season 3 Preview: Who are Eva, Killian, Silja and the three men with cleft lips?
The ever-expanding world of Netflix's 'Dark' can get really confusing. The same character traveling back and forth in time, at different ages, is a lot to keep track of. We have Jonah Kahwald turning to The Stranger (middle-aged Jonas) before his final form as Adam with a disfigured face owing to all the time travel. But with Season 3 delving into a split world with alternate and overlapping realities Jonas isn't the only one traveling in time or between the two worlds.
Pretty much everybody is a pawn in Adam or Eva's game — as the trailer has revealed — but who is this Eva? She isn't the only new addition either; the trailer also hints at the alternate world where alt-Martha is from and she has been living quite the full life there. Back in Jonas' world, there are familiar faces rising to a much greater significance this season and just to make things a little easier on the brain, here is a who's-new of sorts for 'Dark' Season 3.
Eva (Barbara Nüsse)
The trailer has led us to believe that just because alt-Martha is from another world, doesn't mean time travel is prevalent on in Jonas's. Throughout the trailer we see this older, quite aged woman conspiring against Adam and everything he believes in, thus leading us to believe that she must be Martha's older version, just the way her rival is Jonas's. She isn't the only version of Martha we see in the trailer though. The signature bangs that we associate with alt-Martha is quite similar to yet another middle-aged woman in the alternate world, and she is constantly by Eva's side, conspiring with her. Perhaps she is Martha's middle-aged version, just the way The Stranger is Jonas's.
Killian (uncredited)
Speaking of alt-Martha and the full life she lives in the other world, instead of Bartosz, her boyfriend here is a guy called Killian. He looks like the annoying bully type, the kind to pick on someone just for being tinier than them. They can be seen out in the woods on their bikes the way Jonas and the gang was the night Mikkel Nielsen disappeared in season one, or our best guess is Killian is their Jonas replacement in alt-Martha's world. Prepare to be irked!
Silja (Lea van Acken)
She isn't a new character, but she is crucial to the plot, you will see. Silja was a part of the band of survivors after the apocalypse, led by Elisabeth Doppler. Her knowledge of the sign language makes her an indispensable part of Elisabeth's leadership, but she evolves to more than just punishing men who break the rules set in the new world.
The Unknowns (Hans Diehl, Jakob Diehl and Claudie Heinrich)
The name couldn't have been more self-explanatory, because at this point this man's identity is truly unknown, much like The Stranger from season 2. We don't exactly know who he is, but he is pretty much everywhere - be it timelines or separate worlds. He walks in a group of three males, all with cleft lips, leading us to believe they are his past and future self, working together like Adam, The Stranger, and Jonas could, should all three come together as a united force. But other than that, not much is known about this traveler. He looks like an eerie antagonizing entity, however, so here's to looking forward to a much more twisted apocalypse.
