'Dark Matter' Episode 3 Preview: Daniela Dessen's fate hangs in the balance

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: 'Dark Matter' premiered its first two episodes on May 8, 2024 on Apple TV+, and viewers who have seen the first two episodes are waiting impatiently for the third episode to drop.

The series is penned by Blake Crouch, who authored the book that inspired this series. Jakob Verbruggen directs the first three episodes of the series.

'Dark Matter' follows the life of a scientist Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton) who lives a simple life with his wife Daniela Dessen (Jennifer Connelly) and son Charlie Dessen (Oakes Fegley). Things go awry when he gets kidnapped by a version of himself from an alternate universe. As the series wears on, he continues his search for answers. Here's our preview of 'Dark Matter' Episode 3.

When will 'Dark Matter' Episode 3 release?

Apple TV+ is following a weekly release pattern for 'Dark Matter' As per the pattern, 'Dark Matter' Episode 3, titled 'The Box', is set for release on May 15, 2024.

The episode is expected to have a runtime of 48-53 minutes, and subscribers to Apple TV+ can stream it from their homes.

What happened in 'Dark Matter' Episode 2?

'Dark Matter' Episode 2 saw Jason searching for answers in the alternate universe as he meets with his wife Daniela whom he broke up with in this universe.

In the alternate universe, Jason is an unmarried Pavia Prize winner and popular scientist. Daniela is a successful artist and they chose to prioritize their career over their marriage.

Meanwhile, Jason from the alternate universe lives the life of a family man and a professor and implements his assertive ways while teaching his students contrary to the monotonous teaching methods of Jason who is from this universe.

What to expect from 'Dark Matter' episode 3?

Episode 2 of 'Dark Matter' ended with Daniela being shot in her head in the alternate universe. How death in one reality affects the life of Daniela in the reality where she is married to Jason, is still unclear and will be a major plot point of Episode 3.

Jason who has been kidnapped again will probably get to explore the theory of the box again. We will learn more about Jason's past and the choices he made that he may encounter again in the alternate universe.

Meanwhile, we will see Jason from the alternate universe trying to adapt to family life and being a professor. It will be interesting to see if the two personalities of the same person meet once again.
