‘Dancing with the Stars’: Vernon scored 21 for cha-cha, fans ask ‘what do judges have against Skai?’

Vernon Davis had a close call in the previous episode of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Season 29, as he was saved by the judges when he found himself in the bottom two. Therefore, in the latest (October 19) episode, he and his pro-dancer partner Peta Murgatroyd tired to make it up when they performed the cha-cha. Even though the duo was excited to perform to ‘Celebration’ by Kool & The Gang, the professional footballer got a tad bit emotional during his rehearsals as he remembered his late grandfather, who dedicated his latest performance to. He said he was performing an emotionally charged tribute to the man who was a father figure in his life.

There is no doubt that Vernon’s performance had the judges grooving in their seats, but they weren’t completely impressed with the duo’s latest performance. Bruno Tonioli called Vernon and Peta’s dance performance "bright and colorful" and noted that while he had the “right feel” for the dance, Vernon needed to focus on his footwork, Carrie Ann Inaba opined that there were “a lot of mistakes” in Vernon and Peta’s dance, while Derek simply said that he was impressed with the joy factor displayed in his performance. They received a total score of 21, with each judge giving them a seven.

It wasn’t too long before fans of the show surfaced on Twitter to express their opinion about Vernon’s scoring by the judges, with many comparing it with Skai’s, which was lesser. A significant number of them are of the opinion that the judges have something “against” Skai as she received a shockingly low score, while Vernon received a 21 despite “many mistakes” in his performance.

One tweeted, "So skai makes a mistake in her cha cha and gets 6s then vernon makes mistakes in his cha cha and gets 7s??? what do these judges have against skai? #dwts". Another added, "Vernon makes mistakes and gets 7’s but when skai does it she gets 6’s okay #DWTS". One asked, "Vernon screwed up constantly and got a 21 while Skai screwed up once and came back strong and got an 18? #DWTS."
