LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Cynthia Nixon is back in the director’s chair for 'And Just Like That' Season 2. The actor has played Miranda Hobbes throughout the original series 'Sex and the City' and its sequel movies and uses her insight into characters quite well when helming episodes of the sequel series. The show follows Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte in a new phase of their lives without the fan-favorite character, Samantha Jones.

The new series is a revival and a sequel of the HBO television series of the late 90s, 'Sex and the City' created by Darren Star, which is based on Candace Bushnell's newspaper column and 1996 book anthology of the same name. Previously billed as a miniseries, the series was renewed for a second season in March 2022. Furthermore, fans of the 90s series are guessing the 'Unholy' singer, Sam Smith might be starring in the next season.

Cynthia Nixon got double duty for 'And Just Like That'

Nixon announced the move in a new Instagram post, which she aptly captioned, “Double duty for #AndJustLikeThat. I'm thrilled to be back in the director's chair for Season 2.” In the image she’s seen on set, wearing a grey T-shirt that aptly reads “New York state of mind,” while surrounded by a bunch of other artists in the background. She previously directed Episode 6 of Season 1 titled, ‘Diwali,’ which moved the story forward in many meaningful ways. While the actor had directed some plays in the past, directing on film was a completely new experience for her.

Carrie Bradshaw back to Aidan after Mr. Big's demise

As we know, the pair first met in his furniture store before striking up a romance which left Carrie 'freaked out' due to how smoothly their relationship was going. A smitten Aidan later proposed to an unsure Carrie, who accepted but would only wear her engagement ring on a chain around her neck.  Their romance ended once and for all in season four when she admitted she wasn't ready to marry Aidan. However, after they shared a kiss in 'Sex and the City 2'.

Fans were left shocked when the previously loyal Aidan cheated on his furniture-designing spouse - with whom he had sons Tate, Homer, and Wyatt. Consumed by guilt, Carrie abandoned Aidan at his hotel and quickly told her husband Mr. Big, who ghosted her, before presenting her with a black diamond engagement ring. She later told Charlotte the kiss made her realize how she used to be, 'desperate, needy and chasing after a guy who didn't want me' - referring to Big's toxic and gaslighting behavior towards her in the six seasons and first film, where he jilted her.
