CCA CEO Joey Berlin shared a statement on the same and noted that the organization is “thrilled” to honor one of the greatest actors of all time. The statement added, “From his debut with his dad on ‘Sea Hunt’, to his iconic performance as “The Dude” in ‘The Big Lebowski’, to his Oscar-winning performance in ‘Crazy Heart’, right through his amazing work in ‘The Old Man’, his decades-spanning career is unmatched. We look forward to celebrating his incredible career before an audience of millions of fans.”
Born on December 4, 1949, Bridges made his first screen appearance in the 1951 movie ‘The Company She Keeps’. However, it took him almost 20 years to get his major acting role in the movie ‘The Last Picture Show’, for which he was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Supporting Actor category. Three years later, ‘Thunderbolt and Lightfoot’ once again saw him giving a riveting performance as Lightfoot, and once again, he was nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category, but couldn’t win the trophy.
The superstar had to wait for 35 years to get his hands on the beautiful statuette and won the Academy Award for Best Actor for ‘Crazy Heart’.
Since then, he has been nominated for 2 Oscars for ‘True Grit’ and ‘Hell or High Water’.
However, 2020 saw him announcing that he has been diagnosed with lymphoma and is going through chemotherapy. After having chemotherapy for almost one year, on September 12, 2021, the veteran actor noted that his cancer has reduced and had shrunk down to the size of a “marble”.
As of now, he can be seen in the FX drama series ‘The Old Man’ in which he can be seen playing the role of a former CIA agent who is being chased down by other CIA officers.
Nominations for the 28th annual Critics Choice Awards television categories will be announced on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.
