The stage is set! As onlookers wait, the 2021 Critics Choice Awards has unleashed some of the powerhouse performers from the year and the list will fill your heart with wonder. This year, the top contenders are ‘Nomadland’, ‘The Crown’ and ‘The Trial of the Chicago 7’ and the ceremony will follow an in-person virtual hybrid format due to the COVID-19 situation.

The  (CCA) is the largest critics organization in the United States and Canada, representing more than 400 television, radio and online critics and entertainment reporters. It was established in 2019 with the formal merger of the Broadcast Film Critics Association and the Broadcast Television Journalists Association, recognizing the blurring of the distinctions between film, television, and streaming content.

NOMINATIONS

With 12 nominations, 'Mank' was in the lead followed closely by 'Minari' at 10. Not too behind was 'Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom' which scored eight nominations while 'News of the World' was right behind with seven nods. 

Five movies, including 'Da 5 Bloods', 'Nomadland', 'One Night in Miami', 'Promising Young Woman' and 'The Trial of the Chicago 7' — each earned six nominations. Who do you think racked up the most number of awards? Read on.
