FX's latest show seems to be a thrill ride that will have you at the edge of your seats. The plot of 'The Old Man' promises sufficient action and drama to give you an adrenaline rush and perhaps leave you wanting more.

The upcoming drama premieres Thursday, June 16 at 10 pm ET/PT on FX. The action thriller will also be available to stream on Hulu the next day. 'The Old Man,' which will have seven episodes in total, will premiere with the first two, according to Deadline. Let us take a look at the career of the redoubtable Jeff Bridges, who plays the lead.

Who is Jeff Bridges?

The American actor was born on December 4, 1949 In Los Angeles. He graduated from the University High School in 1967. At 17, he moved to New York City, where he studied acting at the Herbert Berghof Studio.

Jeff's debut in television was with 'The Company She Keeps' (1951). In 1969, he played Job Corps crew member Cal Baker in an episode of the TV series 'Lassie,' entitled 'Success Story'. In 1973, he starred as Junior Jackson in 'The Last American Hero,' a film based on the true story of NASCAR driver Junior Johnson. He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his performance opposite Clint Eastwood in the movie 'Thunderbolt and Lightfoot'. In 1976, he starred as the protagonist Jack Prescott in the first remake of 'King Kong'. His role in 'Fearless' (1993) is considered one of the best performances of his career, along with the iconic 'dude' in Coen Brothers' 'The Big Lebowski' (1998).



 

In 2000, Jeff received his fourth Academy Award nomination for his role in 'The Contender.' If you're a Marvel fan, you might be able to spot him as he played the role of Obadiah Stane in the 2008 Marvel comic book adaptation 'Iron Man.' Jeff is one of the youngest actors ever to be nominated for an Academy Award.

Besides being a good actor, Jeff also has a knack for music. He learned to play the piano from a young age and while working on the 1980 film 'Heaven's Gate,' he often played guitar with his co-star Kris Kristofferson. He performed the song 'I Don't Know' from Crazy Heart on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. He is also into photography and voice work.

What is 'The Old Man' all about?

'The Old Man' is releasing on FX in June but the official synopsis is yet to be released. However, the trailer gives a good idea of what the show is about. Dan Chase (played by Bridges) is a former CIA operative who has been living off the grid for a while. When an assassin arrives to take him out, he’s forced to go on the run. During his escape, he rents a room from Zoe McDonald, who he has to partner up with.

When he’s flushed out of hiding, the FBI’s Assistant Director for Counterintelligence Harold Harper is called in “to hunt him down because of his complicated past with the rogue fugitive,” Deadline reports.
