'Crisis on Infinite Earths': Felicity Smoak's fate on 'Arrow' remains unknown even after the crossover

We were hoping that 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' would finally bring her back but now the crossover has ended and there's still no trace of the character.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for 'Crisis on Infinite Earths'.

Ever since Emily Bett Rickards left 'Arrow', she's been sorely missed by the fans, especially during Season 8, which brought back pretty much every important person from the show's past except her. We were hoping that 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' would finally bring her back but now the crossover has ended and there's still no trace of Felicity Smoak.

In Season 7, the version of Felicity from the year 2040 leaves with the Monitor / Mar Novu (LaMonica Garrett) to meet her lost husband Oliver Queen / Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) and that was the last we saw of her. It was believed that the cosmic being would bring her to Oliver on his deathbed so as to ease his passing but that's not what happened.

During 'Crisis', Oliver actually died twice, the first time in Part 1 and the second time in Part 4. We didn't get to see him reunite with Felicity either time and at this point, her absence is more confusing than it is sad.

If anybody deserved to be around for Oliver's last goodbye, it was the love of his life and Season 7 had left us hoping that we'd get a really nice scene with the two in the same vein as the death of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) in 'Avengers: Endgame'. Perhaps the showrunners may have decided to forgo that moment specifically because of the inevitable comparison to 'Endgame' but that doesn't make it any less of a disappointment.

Of course, even though Oliver is dead, that doesn't mean his story has concluded yet. 'Arrow' Season 8 still has two more episodes to go, the first of which is the backdoor pilot for the spinoff series 'Green Arrow and the Canaries'. The second episode that's left will be the actual finale for the season and we're expecting it to neatly conclude all the characters' arcs, hopefully including Felicity.

Because honestly, how could we ever really say goodbye to this amazing show without getting a chance to see one of our favorite characters on screen one last time?

'Arrow' Season 8 Episode 9 'Green Arrow & the Canaries' will air on The CW on January 21.
