'Criminal Minds' Season 15: JJ and Reid finally have that awkward conversation after the love bomb last season

If you remember, the last season finale pulled out all the stops and got JJ to profess her feelings for Reid and it ended quite abruptly.

After a year-long wait, CBS' 'Criminal Minds' made its way back to television for one last hurrah and honestly, they delivered - especially the bit with JJ and Reid. If you remember, the last season finale they got JJ to profess her feelings for Reid and it ended quite abruptly. We didn't know if he still felt the same way or didn't and how they were going to take that arc forward. Well, the second half of the premiere definitely addressed that confusion.

So as it turns out, there's no drama there, as much as some of us would have liked the two of them to just hop and skip into the sunset holding hands. After JJ is put in great danger and we were almost convinced that she was going to die, she made it through. Grace, Everett Lynch, a.k.a. The Chameleon's daughter shoots JJ as she tries to detain them in a parking lot, and as she lies there bleeding, the two escape.

And guess who finds JJ lying in a pool of her own blood? Reid, of course. However, the feelings that were rekindled seemed to come to a close as nothing more than pure love - the kind that apologizes for putting a coworker in a tough spot. JJ tells him that she still does have feelings for him and she always will but that's about it. Cut to the next scene, we've got her husband and kids coming to see her - implying that the two are done romantically, for now.

Fans were quite unsure about how to take the love bomb that dropped last season. The duo have worked for eons together and have always cared so deeply for each other and the rest of the BAU team, so it does seem like the best way, is to move forward for them both. Reid's got his hands full with his mother's health and JJ has her kids and family. It was, in all honesty, a mature move by 'Criminal Minds'.

Criminal Minds airs on CBS Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
