Set against the backdrop of 2012, the story of 'Crime Scene Berlin: Nightlife Killer' unfolds with a series of mysterious murders across Berlin.

Victims, from various backgrounds and locations, are targeted and poisoned with unknown substances. Despite extensive efforts, the police struggle to link the crimes until they made headlines nationwide in Germany.

As the death count rises and the killer seemingly selects victims at random, the urgency for the police to solve the case grows.

However, the official synopsis reads, "In 2012, a series of murders strikes fear in Berlin. As news of the murders hits the headlines across Germany, the pressure mounts on the investigators to solve the case."

There's limited information available about the central case of 'Crime Scene Berlin: Nightlife Killer.' Much of the reporting was in German, and crimes within the LGBTQ+ party scene often receive little attention.

But here's what we know: In 2012, three men were killed and robbed in Berlin after being drugged without their knowledge. The unknown killer, dubbed 'The Darkroom Murderer', targeted men in and around the city's party scene.

The investigation gained momentum when one victim survived an attack, and the killer attempted to use a victim's credit card to buy a train ticket.

A teaser released exclusively to Deadline features a chilling recounting of the events by a mysterious voice. "The fact that something was wrong with me scared me… But the urge outweighed the fear," he says, ominously questioning, "What else was coming?"

The voices in the series will include investigators, relatives of the victims, and the survivors who narrowly escaped the same fate.

'Nightlife Killer' will be entirely in German and broken into three episodes, similar to 'The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel'.
