'Coyote': Meet Michael Chiklis, Juan Pablo Raba, Emy Mena and rest of the cast of CBS All Access crime drama
Michael Chiklis is returning to crime drama after a long time. Only this time, he is on the other side of the law. Starring as Ben Clemens in 'Coyote', Chiklis is coming to CBS All Access on January 7, 2021, as a former border patrol agent whose life takes a complete turn shortly before his retirement.
Starring a largely Latinx cast, the six-episodic series explores issues surrounding immigration and patriotism as Ben Clemens finds himself working for the very people he spent his carer trying to keep out of America. All six episodes of the show drop on January 7, 2021. But before that, meet the cast.
Michael Chiklis as Ben Clemens
As Clemens, Chiklis returns to the crime drama genre after spending decades mastering it. His most popular performance is that of LAPD Detective Vic Mackey on the FX police drama 'The Shield'. He won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2002 and was nominated in 2003. Between 2004 and 2005, he was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama Series but did not win.
In the police comedy-drama 'The Commish', he played Commissioner Anthony "Tony" J. Scali. This was his first successful role, which got him on-board the NBC sitcom 'Daddio'. On CBS' crime drama 'Vegas', he plays Vincent Savino.
Juan Pablo Raba as Juan Diego "El Catrin" Zamora
Juan plays Juan Diego "El Catrin" Zamora, the head of a small family cartel in Mexico. You might recognize the actor from his internationally known role of Gustavo Gaviria in 'Narcos'. It was reported at the time that this was a very personal story for him as his uncle was killed by Escobar. The Columbian actor is also known for his role of John Mario Martínez / Pirulo in 'The Snitch Cartel', Dario Segovia in 'The 33', Herman Gomez in 'Shot Caller' and Dylan Burke in 'Imprisoned'.
In 2015 Raba joined the third season of 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' as the Inhuman Joey Gutiérrez.
Emy Mena as María Elena Flores
'Coyote' introduces Mena who plays the role of a Salvadoran teen migrant and the girlfriend of one of the town's most ruthless crime bosses. You can catch a glimpse of the actress in the trailer. The actress is known for her recent 2020 projects 'El Suspiro del Silencio', in which she played Dalia, 'Melaktik', a short film in which she played Chica Noticiero and Ann Stewart in 'Guerra de los Mundos En Vivo'.
Adriana Paz as Silvia Peña
The Mexican actress and dancer is best known for her role of Toña in 'Rudo y Cursi', which won her a nomination for the Ariel Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her performance as Miranda in 'Las Horas Muertas' garnered critical praise for which she was awarded Best Actress at the Morelia International Film Festival. Her portrayal of Irene in 'El Autor' earned her a nomination for Goya Award for Best New Actress.
Kristyan Ferrer
The 25-year-old Mexican actor is known for his role of El Smiley in the award-winning title 'Sin Nombre', which was directed by US director Cary Joji Fukunaga. The young actor, who has studied acting, song, dance and guitar has delivered successful performances over the years. For his lead roles in the films 'Guten Tag, Ramón' and '600 Millas', he was nominated for the Ariel Award for Best Actor.
Cynthia Kaye McWilliams as Hannah Vincent
McWilliams plays the role of Hannah Vincent and is known for her performances on the television series in the recurring role of attorney Trina Shaw in the BET comedy series, 'Real Husbands of Hollywood', 'Prison Break' as Kacee Franklin, and for playing the leading role in the NBC drama pilot, 'Love Is a Four Letter Word'.
Julio César Cedillo as Neto Mendez
Mexican-American actor Julio is best known for his 2005 film 'The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada', but you might recognize him vividly from his performance of Comandante Guillermo González Calderoni in 'Narcos: Mexico'. He was also known for his work on 'The Walking Dead' as Lieutenant Welles.
