Here's what fans had to say about Corey's performance. One fan said on Instagram "Can we just talk about how he felt every single word of this!!? YES @corey_ward222 !! Another fan on Instagram said "Im so happy he’s back and now look!! He’s on TeamKelly y’all."
33-year-old Corey Ward who is from Hartsville, South Carolina, didn't have success on the last season of 'The Voice'. But this defeat pales in comparison to the other hardships he faces.
Corey's mother has been battling cancer and he has been doing everything he can to make her proud. His mother and sister were the ones who urged Corey to try out for 'The Voice' since music is clearly a passion with him. He began performing music at 13, joined his first band at 14 and has been playing for 20 years. He, in fact, said of his unsuccessful first attempt on 'The Voice' that it didn't discourage him. In fact quite the opposite. Corey in an interview said 'The Voice' experience “reminded me how much I do love music.
His first experience on 'The Voice' may not have turned any chairs but judge Gwen Stefani said she liked the gravel in his voice and Kelly Clarkson even back then complimented him for having a “rad tone.”
Let's hope it is indeed second time lucky for Corey Ward on Season 20 of 'The Voice'.
