Cliffhangers are never pleasant, especially when your favorite character is in danger. In the premiere of 'Chicago Fire', Brett and Gianna Mackey find themselves stalked by a man, who had tried to shoot them before. The man who seems rather high drives into their van. The episode ends with Gianna and Mackey's van falling off the bridge.

This has been worrying fans about the fate of the two characters. What happens to Brett and the slow burn of a romance with Casey after this? Fans are hoping that he will come to the rescue. In all probability, Brett will be fine, as she has faced situations like this before. She didn't even panic when there was a gun held to her head. "I just screamed!! That pissed off addict ran off Ambo off the road. Brett and Gianna better be okay!! #ChicagoFire," a fan tweeted.

Another fan wept, "Why did you guys have to play me like this!! Brett is my favorite!!! Hasn’t she been through enough!!#ChicagoFire@NBCOneChicago," they tweeted. "Ok my heart just dropped to beneath my feet. Why do you do this to me on the first night!@NBCOneChicago. #ChicagoFire PLEASE let Brett and Gabby be ok. I’m not a fan of major cliff hangers," a fan tweeted. "#ChicagoFire Wow What an incredible Season Premiere tonight, loved it but that ending had me at really hope Brett & her partner will be okay @NBCOneChicago#OneChicago," a fan tweeted.

"HOW COULD THE SEASON PREMIERE OF CHICAGO FIRE END LIKE THAT  HOPEFULLY BRETT AND THAT NEW GIRL WILL BE OKAY! And hopefully that crazy guy died in that crash. #OneChicago #ChicagoFire," a fan tweeted. "BRETT AND MACKEY NO FREAKING WAAAAAY THERE IS NO WAY THEY SURVIVED THOUGH #ChicagoFire," a fan wrote.

We might not have to worry much, however. Showrunner Derek Haas told CinemaBlend of Brett's outlook this year, "This is going to be more of a professional relationship… with Brett really in a supervisor, mentoring role than as a fast friendship like she has had in the past. She has other things going on in her life."

So, we have hope. 'Chicago Fire' airs on Wednesdays at 9 pm on NBC.
