'Chicago P.D.' Season 7 midseason finale: Halstead cliffhanger has fans worried about his fate remaining undecided

The finale saw Halstead get kidnapped - yet again - and eventually shot by a woman called Angela, whom he had unknowingly and unintentionally hurt in the past.

Things came crashing down for Jay Halstead once again on the 'Chicago PD' season 7 fall finale and fans are gravely concerned for their favorite hunk from the NBC procedural.

The finale saw Halstead get kidnapped - yet again - and eventually shot by a woman called Angela, whom he had unknowingly and unintentionally hurt in the past. Back in the day, Halstead was involved in the wrongful conviction of a man called Marcus, whose arrest was made on the basis of facial recognition AI, that was eventually revealed to have been a false match. To make things even more tragic, Marcus had also died from all that battery - the guilt from which had propelled Halstead to seek out the man's girlfriend and mother of his child, Angela. Back in the present, on a rescue mission to save the same Angela, Halstead ends up getting shot by her instead, and as he is rushed to the ER with Hailey sobbing by his side, for now, his fate is undecided.

Commenting on the teasing, torturous nature of this cliffhanger leaving fans in nail-biting tension for the upcoming festive season, a viewer tweeted: "How am I supposed to get through my holidays thinking about what is going to happen to Halstead." Chiming in with similar complaints, another fan tweeted: "Seriously why do you want to ruin my holidays? cause now all I can think about is what is going to happen to Halstead. whyyyy?" For other fallen fans who were just trying to make something out of the devastating development, things were mostly about commemorating the day this episode aired. "Happy Jay Halstead day to all us fans who probably won’t make it through tonight’s episode," they tweeted, as we bask in the glory of no information about whether Halstead makes it out alive...

'Chicago P.D.' Season 7 will return from its fall hiatus on January 8, 2020, only on NBC.
