'The Night Agent' Season 3 ended on a gripping note, setting up a potential Season 4. At the time of writing, there is no official confirmation on a fourth instalment. It is worth noting that season 3 was greenlit well before the second season's release. In what comes as good news, showrunner Shawn Ryan did offer a major positive update on Season 4.

"We’ve been working for a while on the storyline. We have some scripts, we are breaking stories,” Ryan told Deadline during an early 2026 press for the season 3 screening. The outlet added that a renewal for the fourth season purely depends on the ratings for the recently released season. Should there be a fourth run in the offing, the production will likely move to Los Angeles for a new tax credit.

"Season 4 is not officially picked up yet, but a while ago, in calendar year 2025, they did quietly pick up a writers' room,” Ryan added. "I think you know from the tax credit, there’s a date by which you need to be filming by; there’s time for us at the moment."

'The Night Agent' is based on Matthew Quirk's mystery thriller. What is well documented is the show featuring a revolving cast. This means Gabriel Basso's Peter Sutherland will be a returning character with a new plotline. On the cast front, all eyes will also be on whether Luciane Buchanan’s Rose Larkin will appear in Season 4. Previosuly the actress revealed her absence in the third season. "The writers decided that they wanted to follow Peter and his journey based on what happened at the end of season 2…so we don’t get to see what happens to Rose," she told the outlet.

With no confirmation of 'The Night Agent' Season 4, much about the show's plot, cast, or even a pencilled release date is up in the air. The third season opened to positive critical acclaim , and a major shocker will be news of a non-renewal.

For those yet to catch season 3, the logline reads, "Coming off the explosive events of Season 2, Night Agent Peter Sutherland is called in to track down a young Treasury Agent who fled to Istanbul with sensitive government intel after killing his boss. This kicks off a sequence of events where Peter investigates a dark money network while avoiding its paid assassins, while putting him on a collision course with a relentless journalist. Working together, they uncover buried secrets and old grudges that threaten to bring the government to its knees — and get them both killed in the process."

'The Night Agent' Season 3 is streaming on Netflix.
