5 things 'The Night Agent' Season 4 needs to address
It shouldn't come as a surprise if Netflix renews 'The Night Agent' for Season 4. With the third instalment premiering earlier this week, the political thriller has been a hit with fans. Not only did it open to positive reviews, but the series also had a perfect ending to a tense plotline this time around. With season 4 almost a certainty, there are some plotlines the series will need to address when it hits the streamer next.
Focus on Peter Sutherland's personal life
What the series can do is take a leaf out of the 'Jack Ryan' series and give more than just a glimpse of Peter Sutherland's (Gabriel Basso) personal life. Last we saw, his romantic interest was Rose (Luciane Buchanan). Since then, he has been wholly on cases that see him not involved in a life outside of it. Whether it be his social life or even a more emotional arc, season 4 needs to focus more on Sutherland's life when he isn't saving the world.
The fate of The Father
The latest entrant this season is the assassin known as 'The Father' (played by Stephen Moyer). Tasked to kill Sutherland, the sinister killer's complex persona is explored when he finally confronts his target. What follows is a conversation that sees him end his plans of making a living by killing people. The bigger question: Will he return
Peter and Rose
And what of Peter and Rose? The end of season 2 all but suggested that the two would not see each other. With Rose looked at as a potential target for people to get to Peter, the idea was to separate. At some point, the series has to bring back its love interest to add more depth to their respective characters and the new season's storyline.
Will Adam be an ally in the future?
Introduced as a new character in season 3, David Lyons' Adam came in as Peter's new partner. That he was close friends with the President left fans wondering about his moral compass. However, with Peter able to turn on his good side, there is every reason to believe that Adam might be someone for the protagonist to count on.
High-octane action vs the slow-burn approach
What sets 'The Night Agent' apart from other political thrillers is the action component it comes with. All three seasons so far have seen Peter with firearms and biffing the bad guys. Will season 4 switch to a slow-burning mode and reserve the action for the second half?
'The Night Agent' Season 3 is streaming on Netflix.
