This week's episode of 'Chicago Fire' brought us one of the greatest pairings on the show – it only comes around rarely, but when it does, it gives viewers something to look forward to. Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) team up to solve the case of a fire at a homeless shelter. The only problem is, they have no evidence. It was not until later that they were notified that the fire was suspicious. By then, when they checked on the scene, they realized that the city had already startup a cleanup at the potential scene of the crime.

Unfortunately, we do not know when the show might return given it is going on a break. Read on to know when 'Chicago Fire' returns and what to expect when it does.

'Chicago Fire' Season 8 Episode 5: Joe Cruz finally catches a break and fans couldn't be happier about his engagement to Chloe

What happened previously?

There are a few running plotlines in this season. One is the will-they-won't-they situation between Casey and Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer). For the moment it seems like both of them are moving on from each other, but it is clear they still have lingering feelings, in spite of the Gabby Dawson-shaped cloud that is above them.

On the other hand, Severide's romance with Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) is as good as it gets. Severide finally told Kidd why he was avoiding her, and instead of breaking them apart, it just made their relationship stronger. We don't know about you, but we think that there's another marriage on the cards for 'Chicago Fire'.

Meanwhile, Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) finally broke the news of his wife, Chloe's pregnancy to the firehouse, and everyone is elated. However, Cruz's bruise in this week's episode has led to doubts for the firefighter, as he strives to assure his wife of his safety.

What we really liked about the recent episode is the way Casey and Severide worked together to find the cause of the fire at the homeless encampment, and how they managed to find the culprit responsible. It's the human connection that makes 'Chicago Fire' great to watch and we hope we get more stories like this.

When will Episode 8 air?

It is not clear at the moment when 'Chicago Fire' Season 9 Episode 8 will air, but keep watching this space for updates!

What to expect from Episode 8?

As mentioned before, there are a few running plotlines on this season of 'Chicago Fire'. Cruz eventually becoming a father, Kidd becoming a lieutenant, and Brett and Casey finally getting together, no holds barred, are all potential outcomes. Of course, given that these are all "happy" endings, we also suspect that something could go seriously wrong -- this is 'Chicago Fire' after all.

With respect to what is immediate, however, Brett's romance with Greg Grainger (Jon-Michael Ecker) is certainly going to be a focus in the upcoming episode. While viewers may be hoping for a Brettsey ending, we cannot help but find Grainger and Brett cute together, so we hope our hearts are not in for a rough ride with respect to them.
