For the 'Chicago' lovers, the long wait has finally come to an end, as  NBC resumed its 'Chicago' Wednesdays schedule. The three stalwart shows of the Dick Wolf franchise, 'Chicago Med', 'Chicago Fire' and 'Chicago PD' are back with new episodes after their previous seasons concluded earlier than expected due to the ongoing pandemic. The production departments emphasized that all three shows have taken all the necessary precautions.

'Chicago Fire', the first show of the franchise, is in its ninth installment and is a hot favorite for fans. This season sees the entry of a new paramedic, Gianna "Mack" Mackey, played by Adriyan Rae. Rae told MEAWW that Mack will get along with Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) quite well and that she has known firefighter Joe Cruz (Joe Cruz) since they were children. There's already some flirting happening between Mackey and Blake Gallo. However, some fans say they aren't quite here for it and are more importantly  interested in the other couples on the show.

"Gallo and Mackey I ship," another tweeted. "@MeetUsatMollys did Mackey and Gallo just have a moment? Do we start with the Mallo ship name? #ChicagoFire," a fan wrote. "Gallo is so smitten with Mackey," a fan tweeted. Others are cheering on the possible couple. "h I’m getting feels between mackey and gallo #ChicagoFire," a fan wrote.  "ARE MACKEY AND GALLO GOING TO BE A THING?!? BECAUSE I SEE SOME FLIRTING AND I AM HERE FOR IT  #ChicagoFire@NBCOneChicago @AdriyanRae @arosende," a fan wrote.

Meanwhile, Sylvie Brett has taken on a leadership role this season. Showrunner Derek Haas told CinemaBlend ob Brett's outlook this year, "This is going to be more of a professional relationship… with Brett really in a supervisor, mentoring role than as a fast friendship like she has had in the past. She has other things going on in her life." Of course, viewers are also looking forward to something else with Brett -- whether her friendship with Captain Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) will blossom into something more. Given that it has been nearly two years, we hope it does and from what has been teased, it would seem like we will get the answer within the first two episodes of Season 9.

'Chicago Fire' is airing on Wednesdays at 9 pm on NBC.
