In a previous interview with People, Cher disclosed that she would routinely have her mother tested for Covid-19 and that she would try to be "very careful" with her over the 2020 holiday season. "We have a little bubble that we've had all this time," she said. "We wear masks, and there's not very many of us. It's my sister, my brother-in-law, my mom, my assistant. And we stay far apart from each other." She added, "I have to be careful too because I have asthma. ... I have different health problems."
Cher described Holt and her friends as "beautiful" when asked about her childhood memories with her mother. Cher then said that she and Holt "fought a lot" because of Cher's "really strong-headed" personality. "I did a couple of things like running away when I was 11," Cher told the portal at the time. "I hopped a train with my friends. I was just very adventurous — but never disrespectful. She wouldn't have put up with that."
Meanwhile, Internet was quick to respond to Cher's tweet with one commenting, "I really think that losing your mom is like losing your life anchor. No matter how old you are. I lost mine in 2004. I’ve felt adrift since then." Another said, "There is NOTHING I can say to EASE your pain or SOOTHE your SOUL. Hold good thoughts of your mom close to your , lock them tight, and she'll ALWAYS be with you. My poor dear, Georgia was a part of our lives for decades. So SMART. So BEAUTIFUL. TRULY A WOMAN BEFORE HER TIME." A third chimed in, "Cher, remember her as she was when she was fine . . . ... we are all thinking of you." "Beautiful, beautiful, photo. Beautiful ladies. And I can see Cher in her Mom, even though they have different coloring," said a fourth. A fifth tweeted, "So so sorry Cher! Lost my dad in Feb to pancreatic cancer and it was horrificly fast! Two months from diagnosis he was gone! It takes time. Just go slow. Allow yourself to feel. Cherish memories and know she’s in heaven and you’ll see her again some day. For sure!"
