'Charmed' Season 2 Episode 2: Fans want the sisters to get their powers back and love the new sides of Harry
The second episode of 'Charmed' Season 2 sees half of our main team go on a road trip and the other half grapple with a personal loss. It all starts with Macy's intense dreams as the witches have their new mission: to rescue Layla, a young witch who was staying at the inn the sisters were transported to in Vermont last week. Layla's been kidnapped by demons who are trying to kill all witches.
Macy and Harry go on the road trip as Mel and Maggie have no powers. Mel is angry and she tries to think of ways to bring back the Book of Shadows and create magic. Both Macy and Harry are being weird with each other as the tension is off the charts. When Macy tells Harry that she only needs a look to tell the two Harrys apart, viewers swooned. They are all praise for Rupert Evans for playing two different versions of the same character.
Some fans are loving the slow burn but hope the Harry and Macy scenes the showrunners have been talking about means the Whitelighter Harry, and not the dark Harry who is trying to kill them. Viewers are upset, however, as it looks like the writers are diminishing the bonds between Harry and the other sisters, Maggie and Mel. In season 1, Harry had quality scenes with each of the sisters, but so far in Season 2, between the two Harrys, it looks like Macy is the only one who gets to spend time with him.
Speaking of significant others, we see more of Jordan this episode as Maggie takes up a part-time job at the gym in the shared workspace so that the sisters have a cover to access the hidden headquarters of the Elders. Jordan has been touted as Maggie's potential love interest, and even with just a few scenes, fans are liking him better than Parker, Maggie's love interest from the first season. Viewers feel Maggie and Jordan have much more chemistry in the short scenes they have shared than Maggie had with Parker in the whole of the last season.
Meanwhile, Mel is desperate to get her powers back. She wants to think of a way to bring back the Book of Shadows, but in the meantime, she sticks to brewing potions. Fans agree with Mel too -- with both Maggie and Mel powerless, there is much less magic this season and for a show about witches, that's not a good thing. Let's hope now that the demons know that the Charmed Ones are alive, the sisters get their powers back quickly as well.
New episodes of 'Charmed' airs on The CW on Friday nights.
