The CW has passed a vote of confidence in the reboot of series 'Charmed' even though the date of its premiere is days away. TV Line reported, that the network has asked for five additional scripts for the show along with two other fresh series, 'All American' and 'Legacies'. While 'Charmed' and 'All American' received an order of five scripts, 'Legacies' received a three-script order by the network. 'Charmed' had previously received a full, 13-episode series order and will air on Sundays.

'Charmed' puts a 2018 spin on the classic series, introducing Macy (Madeleine Mantock), Mel (Melonie Diaz) and Maggie (Sarah Jeffery), three sisters who discover that they’re actually powerful witches after the death of their mother. They will be taught to use the powers to fight "the everyday and supernatural battles that all modern witches must face: from vanquishing powerful demons to toppling the patriarchy" reported Comicbook. The show is developed by 'Jane the Virgin' creator Jennie Urman with Jessica O'Toole and Amy Rardin.

The channel has received severe backlash from the fans of the original series that aired from 1998 and 2006. It consisted of a different set of "Charmed Ones", the Halliwell sisters, as they discovered their destiny as powerful witches. The reboot is based on the same premise, however, Mantock wants viewers to understand before dismissing the series as a rip-off, as many fans have on social media.

“We’re new characters living in a world. It’s a new set of witches who’ve discovered they have powers. I think it’s maybe a misconception to say it’s a rip-off,” Mantock said to the US Weekly. Mantock added, “I saw somebody yesterday describe it as a tribute to [the original] and I thought that was quite nice.”

The CW network President Mark Pedowitz shares, "Hopefully, they would give this new cast a chance." Pedowitz added, "It is not quite the same, yet there are many similarities. Hopefully, they'll give it a shot. We are happy with who we cast, we think it's a nice mix. We're thrilled that Jennie Snyder Urman has reimagined it somewhat and I can only say to fans: Before you make a decision, watch the series."

Charmed will premiere on October 14 on The CW.
