'Celebrity Escape Room': Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about NBC's latest special
NBC is bringing together some of the most iconic actors for its Red Nose Special. Jack Black, Ben Stiller, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow and Adam Scott are coming together for the network's 'Celebrity Escape Room' as a part of Red Nose Day 2020. As the actors come together, be rest assured that humor will ensue as they try to escape not one but multiple rooms. The money will be donated to Red Nose Day, the annual television event that raises funds for children in need.

'Celebrity Escape Room' will air on Thursday, May 21, 2020, on NBC.
Plot
The synopsis accompanying the introductory video of the special event states: "In the all-new 'Celebrity Escape Room', Jack Black is the Game Master, and Ben Stiller, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow and Adam Scott must join forces to escape. If they blow it, at least it's for charity." In a release by the channel, NBC said that 'Celebrity Escape Room' "combines the drama and tension of a real-life video game with the side-splitting allure of the ultimate party game". The group must find clues, decipher the meaning behind them, brainstorm their escape — all within time. They are only allowed to ask the Game Master for three clues and each room that they successfully escape raises more money.
Cast
As part of Red Nose Day 2020, the special will be featuring Ben Stiller, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Adam Scott and Jack Black as the Game Master.
Creators
Stiller and Black also serve as executive producers on the project. "The idea was maybe it'd be fun to do an escape room show to raise awareness for child poverty," Stiller says in the sneak peek of the show that you can watch below. Christine Taylor, Nicky Weinstock, Amiira Ruotola and Lee Metzger also serve as executive producers.

In the sneak peek released by the channel, Kudrow is very impressed by Black's antics. And so are the rest of the guest stars as Scott says, "The game master is Jack Black and he is diabolical." We see the group trying to escape the seemingly impossible escape rooms but fail at the hands of Jack's intricate planning. "It's a battle of wits," Black explains. "You against the room." Will they succeed?
Where to watch
'Celebrity Escape Room' will air on Thursday, May 21, 2020, at 8 pm ET/PT on NBC. After 'Celebrity Escape Room' is done airing, Red Nose Day and the annual two-hour variety special/telethon programming block to end child poverty will begin.
