'Young Sheldon': Fans threaten boycott of show as 'Pro-Trump' ads are played during commercial breaks
The presidential impeachment drama has been all over the place of late. Even your favorite sitcoms haven’t been spared of this ongoing political drama. Fans of ‘Young Sheldon’ were in for a rude surprise when they tuned in to watch their favorite sitcom and were met with a barrage of “Pro-Trump” political messages and ads during the commercial breaks.
The ads were essentially portraying the current president in a good light while calling the ongoing impeachment inquiry a 'coup' against Trump. Fans were quick to express their dislike for these messages being played during the breaks. A fan tweeted, “Yay #YoungSheldon is back! Boo racist political ads are back too!” Many fans were surprised to see the ad on CBS, as traditionally “Pro-Trump” ads have been FOX news’ thing. A fan wrote, “#YoungSheldon @cbs disgusted by the Trump propaganda. Thought someone put on Fox News while I wasn't looking.”
An impeachment inquiry against current president Donal Trump was initiated by Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the United States House of Representatives, on September 24, after reports alleging that the president and his administration officials have been pressurizing Ukraine’s leaders for Trump’s political and personal interests. Fans were disgusted to see the propaganda filled ads being televised on their small screens, and have threatened to boycott watching the show if the ads continue being aired.
A fan wrote, “I really like this #youngsheldon but am going to have to boycott it if you are going to show the Trump commercial again.” Another fan shared, “@CBSTVStudios just played the same commercial on #YoungSheldon and it was disgusting. It was filled with lies and propaganda, I don't know if it was a network choice or part of the local block of commercials on @WJHL but I'll not watch it again or any show that plays it during.” “Very, very concerned about the commercial I just saw during #YoungSheldon paid for Trump stating #ImpeachmentInquiry is a coup. @SenSchumer @senatorjen did anyone on your staff see this? This is reckless and puts all residents of GA at risk. @SenatorIsakson @sendavidperdue”, pointed a concerned fan. “BOYCOTT #YoungSheldon @YoungSheldon till you ban pro-Trump could. Sorry @JimParsons”, expressed a disgruntled fan.
