CBS’s latest primetime presentation, ‘Tommy’ opened with a bang and brought us face to face with a hard-hitting chief of police who defies every definition of what someone at that position can or cannot be. The first woman to be the Chief of Police for the city, the first chief of police to be proudly gay, and a sexual assault survivor; she espouses many firsts for her position. The people around her love her, not because she is sweet or charming, but because she is an absolute badass.

But as great as Tommy might be at her job, she has weaknesses lurking behind the veneered facade. She is a failure as a mother and a wife, or so she claims. Tommy is divorced and has a strained relationship with her daughter Kate (Jones), which doesn’t seem easily repairable. In the pilot, we saw how Tommy finally accepts her neglect towards her child and now, even her grandchild. Kate is equally headstrong and holds onto her ego, quite like her mother and refuses to accept that no matter what, she still has some sentiment (although unresolved ones) towards her mother. However, she breaks down to Tommy revealing how her marriage is falling apart and reaches out for help.

‘Tommy’ Episode 2 'There Are No Strangers Here' will explore the mother and daughter’s relationship as Tommy moves in with Kate and tries to iron out the creases between them. The question remains, will she be able to fix this as effectively and efficiently as she had managed to get a grip on LA’s crime scene?

Elsewhere, Mayor Buddy Gray (Thomas Sadoski) and his deputy are stressed about what Arturo Lopez (Arturo Del Puerto) might say to the police after he gets arrested. But Tommy will not let anything go, especially after one of her own team members turn up dead.

From being in loggerheads with the city’s politicians to taking extreme measures, Abigail Thomas will leave no stone unturned to fight what it just, fair, and safe for the city she now calls her home.

‘Tommy’ Episode 2 will air on Thursday, February 13, 10 pm/9pm only on CBS.
