In 2019, FXX re-entered the late-night short-form animation space with its half-hour comedy series ‘Cake’. The bite-sized comedy is a rather intriguing combination of animation and live-action. Season 2 of ‘Cake’ is all set to premiere soon and here’s everything you need to know about the anthology series ahead of its release.

Season 2 of ‘Cake’ is slated to premiere on March 5 on FXX.

Plot

Following the same pattern, Season 2 of ‘Cake’ is expected to present a “dash of love action” that’s “sprinkled with animation”. Catering to the young audience belonging to the 18-34 age group, ‘Cake’ is a dark comedy with minimal boundaries, which showcases just the right amount of everything to serve the short-form consumption habits.

The channel’s official announcement for Season 2 of ‘Cake’ reads, “There’s something for everyone and plenty to go around when Cake returns for its second season.”

The cast for Season 2 of ‘Cake’ is yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, the inaugural season featured a wide range of cast, including Natasha Lyonne (Orange Is the New Black), Michael Badalucco (The Practice), and Dasha Nekrasova (Mr. Robot) among many others. 

Season 1 of ‘Cake’ also featured a set of notable voice artists such as Avital Ash, Samantha Jayne, Suzanne Cryer, and Olii Haaskivi.

Creators/Showrunners

No information regarding the creators of Season 2 of ‘Cake’ is available as of yet. Meanwhile, a couple of episodes in Season 1 were co-directed by Harry Chaskin, Justin Michael, Pablo Cuello, and Seth Nicholas Johnson, with Harry and Justin also serving as the writers for ‘Cake’.

While Michell Simunovic served as the executive producer, Season 1 of ‘Cake’ was co-produced by Julia Grimm, Harry Chaskin and Seth Nicholas Johnson.
