BUSAN, SOUTH KOREA: BTS is going to make the biggest comeback in the industry with their highly anticipated 2022 concert - 'Yet To Come in Busan'. The show is set to be the first free K-pop concert with 110,000 fans in attendance and is seemingly the biggest free fan event. Since the idea of hosting a free concert for ARMYs (fans of BTS) is very dear to BTS, fans are trying to their best to be present to support the boys. However, it seems like capitalism is coming between fans and BTS as many hotels that are not affiliated with HYBE are reported to have canceled pre-reserved rooms. The concert is hosted in Busan, the city that is placing a bid to leaders of the World Expo for the 2030 World Expo to be held in Busan.

Now, hotel owners are damaging the reputation of the city with their actions and that has left many fans of BTS angry. Reports also allege that these hotels have hiked up their stay prices as high as nine times the original rates in light of the traffic that will be seen in Busan due to BTS' concert from October 11 to October 15. Since HYBE has a special tie-up with some hotels, fans who were first to see the notices have already sold out rooms in these discounted locations. With this, eager fans are looking out for other locations to stay at when they attend the 'Yet To Come in Busan' concert on October 15 but it seems like hotel owners in Busan are exploiting the situation and aiming to make big money out of BTS' concert.

Busan Hotels found hiking stay prices during BTS concert week

BTS will be hosting a special stage for 'Yet To Come in Busan' in preparation for the 2030 Busan World Expo. The concert is marketed as a free show but there are reported to be some nominal charges. However, fans don't mind it considering the show will have 100,000 fans in attendance with an additional 10,000 fans viewing the concert through live stream from a parking lot in Busan. Reports from August 26 reveal that the price of accommodations in the Busan area around October 15, the day of BTS' concert, has increased more than 4 times compared to the previous week. In some exceptional cases, the price of a room for two guests has been increased by about 9 times compared to the previous week.

'Capitalism never fails to disgust me'

This sudden hike in hotel prices has prompted many fans to call out the capitalistic mentality of Busan as one fan said, "Kmedia has started to report on the price gouging by hotels right after the announcement of the BTS concert. Hotels have been canceling existing reservations and charging outrageous prices like one hotel is charging $6600 for 2 nights. I really hope Busan stops the price gouging." Another fan said, "How did all this happen?!?!?! They all take advantage of BTS & ARMY! Many ARMY have booked hotels/apartments for the BTS concert in Busan and have been approved, but suddenly there sudden cancellation from hotel and hotel prices have doubled." One fan said, "Ummm... isn't that exploitation???" One more fan said, "Capitalism never fail to disgust me." Another fan said, "So Busan's hotels cancel reservations for foreigners and offer the same place but triple the costs. I think the authorities of Busan are the twin of Hybe." One fan said, "That's messed up!!!" Another fan said, "Lawsuit!!! these capitalist mfs need to be put in their place."
