This review contains spoilers for 'Bull' Season 4 Episode 6: 'Into the Mystic'

A twist we didn't see coming. Make that two actually. It's no surprise that Freddy Rodriguez has been an absolute rockstar in the series so far. 'Into the Mystic' deals with a murder and the suspect claims to have no memory of due to an alcohol-induced blackout.

Rachel Thomas (Francesca Faridany) is a billionaire with a strained relationship. Things haven't gone well with her husband, Peter (John Ellison Conlee) and the two discuss how to set things right on a boat when in stupor Rachel reacts angrily to her husband. What follows next is her waking up the next day searching for her husband who was discovered killed. Naturally, all eyes fall on the lady for being the prime suspect. She reaches out to Bull (Michael Weatherly) and Co. for help and then begins a series of courtroom sessions that peg Rachel as the guilty one.

A couple of testimonies further push her to the wall until Bull discovers that Rachel suffers from early-onset Alzheimer's. Now, this twist threw a spanner in the works and what we did was still think it was a lost cause for Bull and Benny. However, when the detailed evidence pieces arrive, Bull notices a plastic bag that has traces of Rachel's lipstick, sunscreen, and sputum.

Benny calls in Daniel Miller (Art McFarland) who lends a new theory stating that Peter was the one who attempted to kill his wife instead.  This theory is further supplemented by Dr. Linsey Allendale (Lisa Arrindell) who explains burst veins around her eyes when she went out oxygen was due to the plastic bag over her face.  While it may across as a happy ending for Rachel Thomas, this was the first episode we see Bull and Co. come relatively closer to losing the case. Credit here has to go to the writers of this episode as they pulled out the twists in the penultimate minute.

Barring the one futuristic ending in the season opener, the remainder of the season has been a riveting watch.  Adding to this is the strong acting Freddy brings to the table. The confidence and calmness he exudes in the courtroom are a delight and part of this episode's success is owed to the man. 'Into the Mystic' is a great watch and if this were to be graded, we'd go with an A++.
