'Game of Thrones': The Hound gets the most bids as fans race to build ultimate GOT squad using only $15
Who would you put on your ultimate 'Game of Thrones' squad? As far as the internet is concerned, the Hound (Rory McCann) is a must pick, no matter what your limitations are. Picking your favorite characters for a squad might be quite a challenge when they come with a price, but luckily, the Hound works cheap.
An internet challenge making the rounds on Twitter assigns dollar values to the many 'Game of Thrones' characters featured on the show, with the most powerful members of each category - such as the Fighters, the Magic, the Leader, etc. - costing more than the weaker ones in the rank. The goal is to assemble the ultimate squad using only $15. It seems like an old internet challenge has resurfaced in the times of the pandemic. For many, the Hound's $2 value makes him an indispensable member of any team, enough to get his name trending on social media.
Other popular picks include the $4 Jon Snow (Kit Harrington), and the $3 Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa). Everyone has their favorite picks, and some even manage to get their favorite team with a little money leftover. "Tyrion, The Hound, and Arya were way undervalued," writes a fan online. The online team-building appeared to have been started by a tweet from Barstool Sports and many teams are being built from characters that fans feel ought to have been assigned a much higher value on the lists.
Unlike other 'Game of Thrones' trends that have happened recently, this is one trend that doesn't appear to be drawing as much ire from fans still mad at the show's final season. Fans instead appear to be having fun in this quick, online team-building challenge.
"I’d take oberyn and all the criminally under-valued gems: olenna, tyrion, arya, brienne, and the hound," writes one participant. Some fans took on The Hound as an afterthought, like this one, "Cersei is my queen but Daenarys comes with dragons, Jaquen trained Arya, Tyrion smart af, Arya as my fighter cuz duhhhh and The Hound cuz he’s a bad ass and I only had enough money left for him," but whatever the case, it appears that in the 'Game of Thrones,' those willing to work cheap and die hard will find their way onto everyone's list no matter how much they enjoy the character.
