Britney Spears responds to 'manic episode' rumors by flipping off camera in 'strange' social media video
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Britney Spears seemed to reply to reports that she had had a "manic episode" in public by turning off the comments in her most recent Instagram video, which was posted on Saturday, January 14. The Divinyls song 'I Touch Myself' was playing in the background while the 41-year-old pop singer was seen dancing in front of the camera and repeatedly flashing her middle finger.
The 'Oops!…I Did It Again' singer reportedly had a "meltdown" after customers started taking her pictures in a restaurant on Friday, January 13. According to witnesses, Spears began yelling and "speaking gibberish," prompting her 28-year-old husband, Sam Asghari to storm out of the restaurant.

In the Instagram video, Britney could be seen wearing a strapless, form-fitting white minidress with yellow stripes embroidered all over the cloth. She had white knee-high boots on and her long, blonde hair fell down beyond her shoulders in natural waves which the singer flipped from side to side as she sang. She completed the look with a bracelet on her left wrist and a delicate silver necklace.
Beginning the video with a beaming smile, Spears performed a few dance moves to the 1990 song. The singer then proceeded to put her hand in front of the camera and continued to flip off the camera multiple times. A video obtained by TMZ showed the popstar, who was recently freed from her 13-year conservatorship, using a menu to hide her face from a camera while she was being recorded by customers at the restaurant, which reportedly upset the celebrity.
Following the episode, the singer shared a meme of a woman in sunglasses with her legs crossed. The caption of the post read, "They told me I couldn’t that’s why I did!" Prior to this, she also posted a short video of her saying, "Feeling myself."
In 2021, Spears disclosed that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and was forced to take medication against her choice during her conservatorship, in which her father, Jamie, maintained a significant amount of power over her personal and professional life. The conservatorship came to an end following a highly-publicized court battle in 2021. The singer, who has been married three times, complained how it dictated practically every aspect of her life, including her method of contraception.
