'Bridgerton' Season 3: How Benedict Bridgerton's romance with Lady Tilley Arnold takes a bold turn from the books

LONDON, ENGLAND: 'Bridgerton' Season 3: Part 1 introduces a new character, Lady Tilley Arnold (Hannah New), who appears to be the love interest of Benedict Bridgerton ( Luke Thompson).
Their pairing has left readers of Julia Quinn's novels confused, suggesting that Benedict ends up marrying Sophie Beckett.
'Bridgerton', streaming on Netflix, is based on Julia Quinn's popular eight-part book series of the same name.
So far, the book series has been adapted for three seasons, each following a Bridgerton sibling's journey of finding their soulmate.
In the previous seasons, Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) married Simon Bassett (Regé-Jean Page) while Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) found love in Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley).
'Bridgerton' Season 3 brought the focus on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton), pairing him opposite Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan).
Meanwhile, all eyes are on Benedict, who initiates a bond with Lady Arnold in Season 3: Part 1.
Who is Lady Tilley Arnold in 'Bridgerton' Season 3?
Played by Hannah New, Lady Tilley Arnold is a fresh addition to the Netflix adaptation. A widow, she appears to be an independent, opinionated woman with a complex past.
Benedict is admired by her when he meets her at the celebration of the hot air balloon. He cracks a silly joke, sparking a bond between them.
Their interaction leads viewers to speculate whether their brief encounter will evolve into a lasting relationship. While Benedict's romantic endeavors remain a mystery to the viewers of the Netflix series, the readers of the novel already know his fate.
Whom does Benedict Bridgerton marry in Julia Quinn’s novel?
Though in the Netflix series, Lady Arnold appears to be Benedict's love interest at this moment, Quinn's novel tells a different story altogether.
In Quinn's 'Bridgerton', there's no Lady Arnold. Instead, Benedict marries a young woman named Sophie Beckett, creating a Cinderella-like story for Benedict and Sophie in the novel.
Sophie is treated poorly by her stepmother and step sisters. Following her father's death, she is compelled to work as a housemaid within her own family.
Sophie meets Benedict at a ball hosted by Bridgertons. At this point, she hides her identity which makes it difficult for Benedict to find her for a long time.
However, they unite again when Sophie starts working as a housemaid at Bridgertons'. Their love story picks up the pace and they eventually get married.
At this point, it remains uncertain what the creators of the Netflix series have in mind for Benedict. Either they have introduced Lady Arnold as a mere romantic distraction until his ultimate love story with Sophie begins, or, they might have planned to de-route from the book and offer a new direction to the series.
In either case, we know that 'Bridgerton' will continue to impress us with its engaging narrative.
While Season 3: Part 2 is most likely to focus on Colin and Penelope, we can hope to see Benedict's romantic endeavors gaining the spotlight in 'Bridgerton' Season 4.
How to stream 'Bridgerton'?
