Episode 5 of the wildly hilarious family comedy ‘Breeders’ was full of shocking turns and twists. Ally Worsley (Daisy Haggard) lost her dad in a sudden, tragic accident. Michael, Ally’s estranged father, has been a short-lived character on the show. We only got to see him briefly, over a few episodes. But whatever little we could see, it was clear that the man was just a whimsical, irresponsible parent and nothing worse. He had no malice up his sleeves, except to have a roof on his head. That’s why probably, despite not having been a part of Ally’s life, Michael (Michael McKean) came back to her in his old age.

Ally might have been irritated at the idea at first, but she also realized that it helps her kids. Luke (George Wakeman) and Ava (Jayda Ayles) got to have the company of a grandparent, someone to babysit when Paul (Michael Freeman) and Ally are not around; and he also helped around the house. Ally could deny all she wanted but her father’s presence did make some difference to her home. And subtly, maybe to her as well.

When the police brought in news of Michael’s death, Ally laughed it off, almost feeling relieved that the man who never cared for her and her mother is finally dead. If you were taking this reaction on face value, don’t. People deal with grief very differently. Some take time to realize, while others react instantly. Ally perhaps is from the former category. We did see her breaking down when burying their pet gerbil. That was her first outburst towards her father’s death. And now, in the upcoming episode, we will see more of such outbursts and her frustration towards the loss.

In the promo we see Paul and Darren (Patrick Baladi) talking about Ally dealing with Michael’s death. Ally has finally resorted to therapy to get her through the grieving period and get closure with her father. But she is not being able to get a grip on herself and her behavior has radically changed from being fun and sharp to being agitated and frustrated all the time.

Take a look at how Ally deals with her father’s death.

Will she come to terms with the loss and learn to let go of all the angst towards her father?

‘Breeders’ Episode 6 will air on March 30, 10pm/9c, only on FX.
