'Project Runway' fans call out contestants for repeating designs: Have they run out of fresh ideas?
'Project Runway' is approaching its last leg and the competition has gotten fierce over the weeks with judges throwing difficult challenges at the drop of a hat. But, are designers running out of ideas?
Victoria Cocieru has been, for a long time, criticized for sending down the same silhouettes. Tyler Neasloney, during the after-show chat, told Christian Siriano that she has been constructing asymmetrical, patchwork designs for a while now. However, when asked to present something different by the judges, Victoria began experimenting and the last few weeks have been dismal for her. She went out of her comfort zone to create garments that failed to impress them. She was in the bottom two last week. Delvin McCray who was eliminated the same week said she had a high chance of winning the show because she comes back on life support. What he possibly meant was she gets saved by the judges every time.
Nancy Volpe-Beringer, who is a talented 64-year-old designer and has been tough competition to her fellow contestants, was also called out by judges, cast members and fans alike for creating the same wide-leg pants. Delvin even called one of her pants a "glamorous garbage bag" once. However, undeterred by criticisms she produced another one for the previous episode but judges appreciated the changes she brought into the pair, especially the construction of it.
Brittany Allen too has been accused of repeating her designs by online fans of the show. The strap detailing at the neck and back were eerily similar to the one she did for the Ashley Longshore art print challenge.
The fans believe the designers have been repeating their work. Are they running out of ideas or are just plain exhausted from the tight deadlines that they are unable to think of fresh ideas?
"Was the challenge do tie-dye and create a tortured, fussy, busy, way-too-many different hem lengths, shoulder/sleeve/strap styles and skirt overlays, with over-designed and added doo-dads repeat dress? Cause that's what happened with Brittany here. #ProjectRunway #WastedSave," a fan wrote, while another shared: "I know right #DesignerVictoria makes nearly the same dress every week on #ProjectRunway She should not be pointing out that others repeat their Designs. I really Loved some of Victoria’s looks.... I just don’t like how she treats @BeringerNancy and others [in] this competition!"
"Nancy has a great print but child these pants again lol I know they’re different but yet they’re the same #ProjectRunway," a user tweeted.
