LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Viewers expected a red carpet pre-show, popular hosting, and a lot of memorable on-stage moments at the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards. However, none of these happened. Without the glamorous bits, MTV's Award ceremony was nothing but a "bore" event for the viewers.

Multiple A-list Hollywood celebrities backed out from coming to the 2023 MTV Awards in solidarity with the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike. Besides, Drew Barrymore, who was supposed to host the award show pulled out herself saying, "I have listened to the writers, and in order to truly respect them, I will pivot from hosting the MTV Movie & TV Awards live in solidarity with the strike."

After navigating through the ongoing strike and the chaos it caused, MTV decided to "pivot away" from the live event. MTV claimed that even though the award ceremony will be pre-taped it will "still enables us to produce a memorable night full of exclusive sneak peeks, irreverent categories our audience has come to expect, and countless moments that will both surprise and delight as we honor the best of film and TV over the past year." However, it seems that the same promise was not met.

'It’s not live, It’s trash'

The 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards was pre-taped instead of what it was destined to be. Seeing this year's award ceremony, an internet user tweeted, "These MTV movie awards sucks!! It’s not live. It’s trash." Another user claimed, "@MTV…..this might be the worst #MTVAwards to date. This could of been an email. The rerun on 8 million channels are interrupting my nightly shows!!!!" A user explained, "#MTVAwards #mtvmovieawards are just terrible now:/ But they're making it even worse by showing flashbacks." "That was the saddest s**t I ever watched in my life….I was actually excited for that?" tweeted a disappointed user.
