'Bob Hearts Abishola' Season 1 Fall Finale: Here's when the Chuck Lorre comedy will return with new episodes after winter break
'Bob Hearts Abishola' might have got into trouble with viewers in the initial episodes, but the freshman comedy by Chuck Lorre has been building a steady fan base through the first half of its first season.
Starring Billy Gardell and Folake Olowofoyeku as the titular characters, the CBS show follows Bob — a middle-aged sock businessman who suffered a heart attack — fall for and try to woo his nurse, Abishola, a Nigerian immigrant and a single mother.
Through the first few episodes, the viewers are introduced to both Bob and Abishola's families as well as the people they work with. Bob works in his family-owned business with his mother, Dottie, and his siblings, Douglas and Christina.
Meanwhile, we also meet Abishola's family: her son Dele and her Uncle Tunde and Aunty Olu. Aunty Olu and Uncle Tunde have quickly become fan favorites and their antics to interfere in Abishola's life knows no bounds.
We also meet Goodwin and Kofo, workers at Bob's factory who help him learn about Abishola's culture to help him in his wooing — and when he is not present, get into trouble with their meddling of the company. Then there is Gloria and Kemi — Abishola's colleagues — who egg her on to go out with Bob when she is reluctant.
Though Abishola initially refuses Bob's advances, in the last couple of episodes, the two get together and try to make their relationship work. Of course, that was not without its obstacles, mainly in the form of a suitor named Chukwuemeka introduced by her relatives.
The final episode for 2019 has aired and in the episode, we see that Bob and Abishola's relationship is stable enough that we don't see the two of them interacting much — until of course, that much-awaited kiss in the end.
'Bob Hearts Abishola' returns with new episodes to CBS on January 6, 2020.
