Spoilers for ‘Blue Bloods’ Season 11 Episode 5, ‘Spilling Secrets’

Last week, CBS’s long-running crime drama series, ‘Blue Bloods’, did not air, much to fans’ disappointment. Despite already taking a winter break, the show revolving around the Reagan law enforcement family of New York took another break last week. And instead of a new episode, CBS aired episode 17 of season 10, ‘The Puzzle Palace’. CBS has offered no explanation for this short break as of yet. Thankfully, ‘Blue Bloods’ will be back with a new episode on Friday.

What happened in Season 11 Episode 4?

Titled ‘Redemption’, the fourth episode of this season saw Officer Ray Flores (Keilyn Durrel Jones) wracked with guilt over his partner being shot while the two accosted a robbery suspect. Flores later told Jamie (Will Estes) that he wanted to kill the suspect. When the suspect ended up shot in the head, Flores was investigated by the Internal Affairs Bureau. But Jamie wasn't convinced that his officer acted on his claim.

Erin (Bridget Moynahan), at the same time, faced a dilemma when a man convicted of vehicular homicide in a drunk driving incident protected some children in a heroic act while out on bail. She consulted the victim's mother to make a case that the convicted man should get a lighter sentence. Frank (Tom Selleck), meanwhile, was conflicted when Detective Allison Mulaney (Ali Stroker) wanted to continue actively working cases despite being confined to a wheelchair after being injured on the job.

What will happen in Season 11 Episode 5?

As per the official plot synopsis of ‘Spilling Secrets’, Eddie (Vanessa Ray) and her partner, Officer Rachel Witten (Lauren Patten), will be heralded for their bravery in stopping an active shooter. Things will take a sudden turn when a civilian will come forward to accuse them of faking the incident as part of a government conspiracy.

At the same time, we will see Frank pry into a decades-long history of cash payments his father former Commissioner Henry (Len Cariou) has been making to an unknown recipient. As per a promo video for the episode, we see Henry get mad at Frank for this. He tells Frank not to meddle, reminding him that it was none of his business. Who could those payments have been for?

Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) and Baez (Marisa Ramirez) will find themselves in the middle of a fierce sibling rivalry between two brothers as they investigate the murder of the men’s father. And finally, Sean (Andrew Terraciano), Danny and Linda's (Amy Carlson) younger son, will contend with his school locker being vandalized with anti-police sentiments.

Anti-police sentiments have been addressed in this season already -- with Whoopi Goldberg's New York City Council member Regina Thomas. That was in the first episode of the season but it was more or less lukewarm. Here's hoping that this episode ups the ante.

When will ‘Blue Bloods’ Season 11 Episode 5 air?

‘Spilling Secrets’ will air on Friday, January 22 from 10-11 pm ET/PT, on the CBS Television Network. But there won't be any new episode airing on January 29 again. The next episode for ‘Blue Bloods’ will air on February 5, 2021.
