'Blonde' depicts the enigmatic and starry life of late actress Marilyn Monroe. Netflix is set to celebrate and pay tribute to the iconic star with the highly anticipated movie. The streaming giant finally released the trailer of the movie. Directed by Andrew Dominik, ‘Blonde’ is a biographical film that has been adapted from a novel of the same name published by author Joyce Carol Oates back in 2000.

The trailer starts with a character’s voice-over saying, “Miss Monroe, it’s time”. Then we see a glimpse of Marilyn Monroe (Ana De Armas) who is seen sitting in front of the mirror in her vanity van. She is seen giving herself a flying kiss. In the background, we hear fans chanting, “Marilyn, Marilyn.” Then we see her coming out of her car and waving at her fans. Next, we witness her sitting for an interview with a character that asks her, “How did you get your start?” On this Marilyn asks him, “What start?” The interviewer responds, “In movies.”

Further, we see a fast montage of how Marilyn started as an actress in movies. We can see her with a script trying to read her lines and a man tries to be closer to her and she doesn’t like it at all. Coming back to the interviewer, she says, “I guess I was discovered.” This gives us a hint that even when she was seen globally as one of the most beautiful and versatile icons, there was a vulnerable side to her that she kept hidden.

Then there is another voice-over that says, “I know you’re supposed to get used to it. But I just can’t. I’ve played Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn Monroe and Marilyn Monroe." Then we see glimpses of her almost fainting in front of the paparazzi. Then we see Marilyn saying, “I can’t face doing another scene with Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn doesn’t exist. When I come out of my dressing room, I am Norma Jean. I am still her when the camera is rolling.” We also see glimpses of her life as she gets involved in alcohol, and drugs, runs away from the paparazzi, rides a car brashly, and finally, she utters, “Marilyn Monroe only exists on the screens.”

Overall the trailer is a perfect blend of longing, emotional struggles of Marilyn, aloofness, her glam life as an actress, her hidden self as Norma Jean, her not liking the profession, and her real story which is not known by anyone. This only has created intrigue about the film.

The trailer was released on the official Twitter handle of Netflix.

The trailer shows Ana De Armas portraying timeless icon Marilyn Monroe flawlessly in 'Blonde'. After it was released, fans took to Twitter and hailed Armas' look, and shared their thoughts about the rest of the cast and the trailer overall.

“Honestly think de Armas is going to blow this out of the water, and new Dominik is always something to celebrate. BLONDE's my most-anticipated for the fall, at this point,” said a fan.

“Finally, Marilyn Monroe is being portrayed as a Latina icon,” shared a fan. “Sublime (2),” a fan noted.

“I think this looks awesome, it sorta reminds me of Spencer which I also really enjoyed. Ana de Armas’ accent isn’t the best but I believe she’ll still deliver an incredible performance. This being based on a fictional story is interesting too. Lookin’ forward to it,” another fan added.

“This will no doubt be divisive but damn it looks like Ana De Armas gives a tour de force performance and for that I’m all in #Blonde,” a fan said.

“I actually kinda can't believe this is actually coming out... an NC-17 movie on Netflix. Andrew Dominik is such a baller. Looks incredible,” said a fan.

"Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, s**t on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it," a fan tweeted.

Another fan wrote about Armas's performance, "SHES GETTING THAT OSCAR SO TRUE."
