'Bill & Ted Face the Music': Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about the Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter starrer

The iconic duo of Bill and Ted are back again as the middle-aged rockstars who have been assigned the responsibility of composing a song which will save the world! Read on to know everything about the latest offering from the Bill & Ted franchise.

After a hiatus of nearly three decades, the iconic aspirational rockstar duo - Bill & Ted played by Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves are back with the third installment of the Bill & Ted franchise- Bill & Ted Face Music. The earlier two movies- Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989) and Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey (1991), showcased the younger days of Bill & Ted, when they were still lazy day-dreamers who dreamt of making their rock band “Wyld Stallyns” the greatest band of all time. The current film shows them playing the role of middle-aged men who still haven’t fulfilled their dream of creating their musical legacy. Now, they are presented with an opportunity to compose music that could potentially save the world.

Plot

Bill Preston and Ted Logan are now middle-aged men with family and responsibilities. They receive a visitor from the future who presents them with an opportunity to compose music which could potentially save the world. The story revolves around how Bill and Ted get around to creating their masterpiece with the help of their family, friends and also some famous musicians along the way. Chris Matheson, the screenwriter of the film explains, “You’re told you’re gonna save the world. And now you’re 50 and you haven’t done it. Now they’re married, and it affects their marriages, and it affects their relationships with their kids, and it affects their everything.”

Keanu Reeves 

Keanu Reeves, the man of the hour, is back reprising his role of Theodore “Ted” Logan. He is now a middle-aged man, who still hasn’t achieved his dream of creating the musical masterpiece that will save the world. For his role as Ted, Keanu has been sporting a clean-shaven look which is a break from the rugged look he has been sporting for many years now.

Alex Winter

Alex Winter is back playing the role of William “Bill” S. Preston, Esq., the role that made him a household name.

Among others, Brigette Ludy Payne has been roped in to play the role of Billie Logan, the daughter of Ted Logan. Thea Preston the daughter of Bill Preston is played by Samara Weaving. William Sadler will return as the Grim Reaper, the role he played in the second film, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. It has been confirmed that rapper Kid Cudi is a part of the film, although the details of his role are yet to be shared. Anthony Carrigan will appear as the “bad guy” in the latest franchise. His character name is yet to be announced.  

Actress Kristen Schaal and Emmy winner Holland Taylor have joined the cast of 'Bill and Ted'. Schaal will play the role of messenger, while Holland will take on the role of "The Great Leader", the most powerful person in the universe.

Dean Parisot

This film is directed by Dean Parisot. He has won an Academy Award for his short film- The Appointment of Dennis Jennings, which he had co-written with comedian Steven Wright. He has directed films like Galaxy Quest, Fun with Dick and Jane, and Red 2. 

Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon have written the storyline. They have collaborated in the past to create the Bill & Ted franchise, and also co-wrote films like Mom and Dad Save the World and Imagine That.

First look

The first look pictures of 'Bill and Ted 3' were released on the film's official Twitter channel and they feature Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter. The first of the pictures sees Bill and Ted inside a phone booth, and the other one puts them next to Death who is portrayed by William Sadler.

Sadler last played this character in the film 'Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey'. The third picture is the first look at Samara Weaving who plays Bill's daughter and Brigette Lundy-Paine, who portrays Ted's daughter. The two of them are seen standing with a character played by musician-actor Kid Cudi.
