Big Bang Theory spoilers: Season 12 to reveal Penny-Leonard future plans and Raj's quest for love

It's a sweet-bitter feeling for fans of the long-running CBS comedy, 'The Big Bang Theory.' Earlier it was confirmed that the upcoming season 12 was going to be the final one, closing one long-drawn chapter surrounding the lives of these beloved geeks. Naturally, anticipations have been on an all-time high, especially with regards to the fate of these fan-favorite characters and their extended family, who time and again have unfailingly tickled our funny bones.

Thankfully for fans, showrunner Steve Holland is here with some early spoilers, dishing what's in store for fans when the show returns with season 12 this fall, on September 24.

The first of the revelations, interestingly, has to do with none other than Penny and Leonard, the Big Bang couple whose relationship and its corresponding ups and downs have kept fans on their toes for the past eleven seasons. While the couple is now happily married as part of the narrative, the question remains whether or not they will be expanding their family before the series end. As it turns out, season 12 will be concluding this storyline, with a bang hopefully.

According to Holland, Penny and Leonard will “tackle the question of whether or not they want kids."

As for their friend, Raj, the narrative will be taking a romantic turn - perhaps a dramatic overturn where he finally asks his dad to arrange a marriage for him. “Raj’s search for love will definitely play a big role this season,” confirmed the executive producer.

And that's not all. There's resolution in store for series favorite Sheldon and Amy as well, a plotline promising the return of guest stars Kathy Bates and Teller.  “Sheldon realizes that he didn’t just marry Amy, he married her family and decides to become friends with Amy’s parents," suggests Holland, hinting on minor hindrance in their newlywed life.

Created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady and starring Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Mayim Bialik, Melissa Rauch, and Kevin Sussman in the lead roles, 'The Big Bang Theory' returns on CBS on September 24 at 8/7 c.
