'Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: A Schitt’s Creek Farewell': Television's best comedy takes its final bow

And just like that, after six long years of companionship, the finale season of Pop TV's 'Schitt's Creek' concluded leaving us immensely overwhelmed.

When the show first arrived on Pop TV in 2015, they were hardly expecting the level of love and admiration they were to receive over the next six years. But millions of praising tweets, four Emmy Award nominations and recognitions across the globe only prove how unique the show was.

Airing right after Season 6 finale, the hour-long documentary, 'Best Wishes Warmest Regards', takes viewers behind the scenes, on the sets of the comedy, featuring interviews with the main and the supporting cast. It takes us through Dan Levy's (who plays David Rose on the show) hustle for the show and Eugene Levy's (who plays Johnny Rose) timely participation.

As emotional as the half-hour series finale was, the documentary is all the more overwhelming. The show is not only special to its audience, but for the entire cast and crew, which makes the goodbyes even difficult.

With never-before-seen footage of wardrobe fittings, the emotional final table read, audition tapes and more, the documentary special features (directed by Amy Segal) also explores the cultural impact the show has had with interviews with the cast, creators, journalists and celebrity superfans, including Paula Abdul, Will Arnett, Carol Burnett, Cameron Crowe, Tony Hale, Amy Sedaris and Johnny Weir. It is a goldmine for fans who now know inside information about the show, its characters and the actors who play them.

'Schitt's Creek' created a safe space for the LGBTQ community. But more importantly, it made a far bigger impact for those outside the queer community by telling a story where everyone simply fit in without distinctions and prejudice. By excluding homophobia and other prejudices from its narrative, 'Schitt's Creek' achieved much more than discussions around the issue ever did.

This is why the show is so special to the community that not only finds its representation in the wholesome, literally #goals relationship of David and Patrick, but also in Moira Rose. David and Alexis's mother Moira, a straight character who quickly becomes a gay icon (as is pointed out in the documentary) because she is dramatic, over-the-top and simply because she has a heart of gold.

Every time that 'Schitt's Creek' came on television, it created a benchmark for LGBTQ representation. How? It showed audiences and creators across the globe that stories about queer representation need not include struggle and strife. They can simply be. Each character in 'Schitt's Creek' has lived to see what they never imagined possible. After their fall from money into the rundown town of 'Schitt's Creek', the family was pretty much left to their own devices. On their journey towards rebuilding their life, the Roses learned a lot but it taught its audience a lot more.

It is not like the show has deserted its loyal audience altogether. They will always have the love and warmth of 'Schitt's Creek' to carry in their hearts forever. Because truth be told after we finished watching the finale, we went back to Season 1 Episode 1 when the Roses first came to the dilapidated town that changed their lives — and ours — forever. We simply cannot quit yet.

'Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: A Schitt’s Creek Farewell' is not the conclusion of the beloved series, it is a celebration of the wonderful stories it has successfully told.
