'Batgirl': Michael Keaton to return as Batman, fans say 'best news of Covid movie era'
Portraying the legendary comic-book character of Batman is once in a lifetime opportunity and not everyone gets the chance to don the iconic suit. Six actors have played the role of the Dark Knight so far in films and Robert Pattinson will be the seventh star to play the character in the upcoming movie ‘The Batman’. However, Reeves’ version is not the only version we’ll be seeing in the near future because DC is bringing another actor to reprise the role of the legendary character.
Veteran actor Michael Keaton, who will be seen wearing the signature cape and cowl in ‘The Flash’, has signed the deal for playing the role of Batman once again and this time, it will be for an HBO Max movie. The superstar will be dusting off his costume for the upcoming ‘Batgirl’ starring Leslie Grace in the titular role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the star will be joining the already announced cast of Grace, JK Simmons, and Brendan Fraser. The plot is kept under wraps, but we know that the story revolves around Barbara Gordon (Grace), the daughter of Gotham City police commissioner Jim Gordon. The movie is being helmed by the dynamic duo of Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.
This will be the fourth time that Keaton will be playing the iconic character. The actor first portrayed billionaire Bruce Wayne and his alter ego in the 1989 movie ‘Batman’. He reprised his role in the second movie of Tim Burton’s ‘Batman’ franchise ‘Batman Returns’.
As soon as the news of Michael Keaton’s casting surfaced online, social media went berserk and expressed their excitement on Twitter. One of the users wrote that this is the best news of the Covid movie ear. The user stated, “Hands down the best news of the COVID movie era.” Another fan noted, “Literally the only reason I’d even consider watching this.”

He wrote, “Yeah, I'ma need you kids to stop shitting on Michael Keaton as Batman. He's brought seriousness to the character in live-action. He brought seriousness to the character in live-action. He's the best, most grounded Bruce Wayne. He was #TheBatman for a generation of folks who are excited about his return.”

“Teenagers and so-called film pundits on this app have got to stop underestimating Keaton's influence just because they didn't grow up with him. Batman 89 was basically No Way Home for that year but changed everything for the genre. He is still many people's Batman,” another fan stated.
