Kansas City’s Tamara Day returned with another episode of ‘Bargain Mansions’ on November 30 and this time she and dad Ward renovated a 1986 colonial house tucked away in one of the less populated areas of the city. The house is built on 3,600 square feet and the selling price of the house was $275,000.

Tamara set a renovation budget of $150,000 for the entire house. For Level 2 of the renovation which includes the master bedroom and bathroom, 2 extra bedrooms and 1 extra bathroom on the second story of the building. She set a budget of $60,000 to renovate the bed and bath area.

For the master bedroom she decided to wrap the walls with a soft wallpaper. She was determined to put a chandelier on one side of the huge bedroom and make a sitting space under it. The bedroom also had a fireplace that Tamara restored and repainted, she painted the bedroom walls in lavender and put pendant lights. For the master bathroom she wanted to create more space to give it a spa-like feeling. She gave it a sea blue double vanity, a soaker spa room with a shower and a separate toilet. The walls were given vertical and horizontal tiles.

The other bedrooms were renovated into kids bedrooms with light fixtures and hardwood floors.

Earlier for Level 1 of the renovation, Tamara discovered a barn that she decided to paint in pink and red. She got rid of the wall connecting the living room to the kitchen and made it one big space. She also gave the kitchen windows and a door to the outside that didn’t exist before. She put a 14 feet kitchen table made out of reclaimed lumber wood that could seat around 20 people.

For the living space, she decided to get a new mantle from her favorite antique store. The walls were covered with medallion wallpaper and with a centerlight in the living space and modern lighting and fixtures all over the study and living room, the space was good for an open house. Tamara spent exactly $90,000 for level one of the renovation within 8 weeks of time.
